How many pencils do you get in this package?

12 pencils-the graphite is great-smooth writing!

I believe they are made in Japan but not certain on this point. There are no English markings on the box that i can find which verify this. It IS a smooth dark and high quality pencil, though. I'm very satisfied with them.

Do these say “Made by elaborate process” on the pencil?

I do not see that. There are Asian characters (I’m assuming Japanese) etched into each pencil. Perhaps that it says? Not 100% sure.
