Good quality sardines
Review for Wild Caught Sardines in Olive Oil from Portugal - 4.4 oz.I enjoy sardines and this one seems to be of high quality with good flavor. I like olive oil as the base. It goes well with lots of things from a simple meal or a good addition to more complex dishes. It's not the best value but it's a good quality pick. The expiration date is September, 2027 so 3 years and 3 months of shelf life since order date.

Simple ingredients
I appreciate the simple clean ingredients of these sardines, it's only sardines, olive oil, and salt.My tin had two regular/large fillets, one smaller fillet, and one half fillet.Technically these do have bones, but because of the high heat and pressure of the sterilization process, the calcium in the bones has been broken down to the point where they pretty much dissolve in your mouth and you don't notice them (just like some types of canned salmon). The taste is mild, but fishy. I like to add a good squeeze of fresh lemon juice, mash them, and spread on toast. You get 22 g of protein in the can, which is great if you're trying to eat smaller meals but still get a lot of protein in!I was torn between giving this three stars and four stars, because of the texture (and price/value). These sardines are definitely much less firm than I am used to with other brands. This actually works out fine if you plan on mashing them and making a spread with them, but I would expect higher quality for the price point. These are definitely one of the more high-priced tins of sardines I have tried ($11, on sale for $9, for one tin, at the time of this review).

I’d never had sardines before, and I was scared. But they were incredible.
This reminded me of really awesome salmon— moist and so tender the fish fell apart. I made Ochazuke with it, and it was the best ever. I usually use ginger sesame tuna, which is what gave me the idea after I looked up how to eat sardines. My idea turned out incredible. There were zero bones and it wasn’t oily, despite being packed in oil. The oil was very light somehow. The skin wasn’t icky, even though I’m usually grossed out by eating any sort of animal product that resembles an animal in any way. They’re expensive for the quantity, but not for the quality. Best Ochazuke ever. I’d buy again for a special treat, like for my birthday or if I wanted to impress with a fancy dinner.

Tasty
Delicious. I love having them on a dirty rice recipe. Unfortunately, the price is outrageous for a single can.

Overpriced, mushy, and pull tab broke
Although the flavor was very good, our tin of sardines looked nothing like the product picture. Ours was all broken apart in pieces (like canned tuna). You would never guess these were supposed to be whole sardines. The pull tab on our tin snapped without opening the tin as well, so we had to use a knife and pliers to open. At a price of $10.98 for one small 4.4 oz tin, we would not order again.

Delicious
These were really good. The oil is very light, and the sardines themselves were very large - although the can was packed full, it was only 2 sardines! No noticeable bones, either.
