Perfect everyday carry blade retains a great edge

I do like the knife, the one thing I do not care for, the hinge does not seem "fluid" and can be difficult to flick open with the lever without also having to snap your wrist. Edit: 3 months in now and I will say I have gotten more used to the opening in a simple manner. There is an adjustment that can be made, but I feel like just opening it more and getting the right amount of wear on the bearing was all it really needed to improve. I still would not increase from 4 to 5 stars, but wanted to provide a real update after some more significant use.

Ordered this after reading a raving review in a knife magazine. Handle/ergonomics are okay, but steel and materials are subpar. The action is terrible even once oiled and tnrion screw loosened. I want to love Gerber, because they are local and their customer service is great, but their experience blades are overpriced for what they are and their less expensive blades just don't satisfy. This particular blade is better than most of their others in the price range though. Unless you really love Gerber, I won't spend your money on another brand. SOG, Petrified Fish, and Kaiser have some great knives in the same price range. Try one of those. Happy shopping.
