SharkBite fittings can be a stress-free way to amend challenging or novel plumbing situations.
SharkBites are almost always very useful and dependable. As with anything requiring installation, the installer had best follow the instructions or risk the item's not working as expected. When instructions say to square a cut end – square it. When instructions say to eliminate burrs – ream it. Make sure your piping –especially copper since it can be quite malleable– is round and lacks flat spots. To my experience of having used roughly twenty-five (25) or so SharkBite fittings over time, I have not yet had one fail. For our purposes, this shut-off valve was used off of a copper tee so I could feed 1/4" copper tubing up next to a basement joist and into the kitchen behind our refrigerator, to feed unsoftened water for drinking water and ice making. (We're on well water and much prefer to drink filtered well water than softened house water, filtered post- or not.) Tangentially related to SharkBite fittings, but not specifically this particular, I would recommend getting the SharkBite quick release pliers if you expect to install/remove/move SB fittings in more than isolated instances. It works wonderfully and makes doing so MUCH easier than trying to use one or both hands to use the half-moon release tool that accompanies many SB fittings. Add that it is common for retrofitted modifications to involve close quarters, awkward body manipulations, and potentially, time crunches and tense people quizzing "when will this be done" or "helping" the installer...The pliers/removal tool will pay off better than a handful of ibuprofen or your favorite blood pressure medicine.

Fast and easy for an update!
Quick install on a travel trailer update. 1987 travel trailer with original PEX plumbing, I redid the countertop and bathroom sink. I was able to quickly cut my old PEX slide these on and ready for hook up in less than five minutes. Very quick and easy, strong connection and no leaks.

Product: SharkBite Max 1/2 x 1/4 Inch Compression Straight Stop Valve: Worked as expected. Used this to connect a tankless water cooler/dispenser to my house's water supply (PEX hose). Hardest part is remembering to put the cover and nut on the pipes before attaching them.
