Consent to Kill (The Mitch Rapp Series)

Very unexpected turn of events throughout this book, I have read all of the previous books and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Consent to Kill started of with Mitch Rapp's life being near perfect with a happy end in sight. His only problem being the new Director of Intelligence or so it seems but as it continues the threat is made and a "bounty" is placed on his head a whopping $22 million in all. A brilliant book, well written twists and turns all the way throughout, an emotional rollercoaster of a story. A must read, can be read as a stand-alone book, but I feel having read the series, you will find the emotional impact and the I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT HAS JUST HAPPENED a very powerful tool in Vince Flynn's writing. SPOILER, Pregnancy for Anna Rapp and the hopes and dreams you want for them all changes in a split second and she and the unborn child are killed an Mitch survives and has to grieve once again for the love of his life and the future that no longer exists. Kennedy is told by the powers of the Cabinet members to stop him avenging his wife's death but the President later tells her Mitch has his consent to Kill anyone who is involved. The assassin's are brilliantly written with the background in the story as it unfolds and at each step of the main characters you find out what their doing parallel to the others. Claudia then finds she is pregnant too but is unaware that Anna is an asks Gould to spare her. He doesn't and they in turn split with her telling all and asking for the time to have her baby and be able to hold him or her. Gould returns and she has to tell him this,unsure of his reaction. It ends with Rapp finding them an their newly born daughter named Anna. Read and you will definitely be in tears throughout this book. Strongly recommend that this is a book to read, maybe one of the best. Can't wait to find out what else is in store for Mitch Rapp.

The best one of the series so far. Fast paced, not to technical . Good to see Kennedy kick ass. What will Mitch do now, I hope there is someone waiting for him that is lower maintenance than Anna. Good luck Mitch.

It must be an unwritten rule to make an unloved character loveable just before you kill them off. Anna Reilly was by most readers posts unlocked, dull and a distraction. Then she seems to be better and she is written out. It makes the rest of the novels easier to write without a limiting factor like child and wife. This book is excellent, giving multi faceted points on politics, espionage and international relations and banking. Anyone with a brain must know not to try and kill Rapp. But it did make it a great revenge thriller.

I enjoy the Mitch Rapp books, but this one reached new levels of "unputdownablity". There was more depth, more surprises and a break neck pace throughout. Tears were brought to my eyes on more than one occasion, but what an ending. An already good standard has been raised further.

Once again Mitch Rapp makes it alive to the end of the book with a cliff hanger in every chapter. Flynn has created a superb character in Mitch Rapp. The plot constantly twists and turns as time and again new issues crop up. I am a confirmed Mitch Rapp fan and am about to download the next in the series.

It was difficult to put this book down. I enjoyed it greatly and look forward to the next one. The finish was very good spoilt only by the lack of revenge on Kennedy’s boss. Other than that,bring it on!

Great read and recommended, if you can it's worth reading the books in order

It would have been interesting to have seen the character developed instead of shackling him to the predictable lone wolf hunter for at least a few more novels before killing off the wife. An opportunity missed for I feel. That said very well written and as compelling as ever. Top job.

Consent to Kill is another awesome story of fanatical and well-financed Islamic terrorists versus the West specifically the USA. To my delight, even more intense than the previous book, 2004’s Memorial Day. Mitch Rapp is up against the terrorists as well as the political leaders advising the US president who were united and determined to muzzle Rapp or neuter him. Not sure who was the bigger adversary...the political leadership or the terrorists. I think that’s the point of the book. Best scene in the book was when Rapp alone still recovering from physical injuries had to go up against 14 heavily armed MS-13 Latino gang bangers hired to kill him. None survived contact with Mitch. A surprise ending.

Ja, so muss sie sein, die heile amerikanische Welt. Man kann das mögen, man kann es sein lassen. Für einen guten Thriller ist das aber genau das richtige Rezept. Denn Vince Flynn muss sich nicht elendig mit irgendwelchen vielschichtigen Charackteren rumschlagen, sondern kann mit dieser Schwarz-Weiß-Erzählung schnell und spannend ohne Umschweife eine Geschichte erdenken und zu ende spinnen. Wer die Darstellung von Persönlichkeiten und die Beschreibung von deren Gefühlwelten will, muss andere Lektüre wählen. Mitch Rapp der Spitzenagent der CIA, wird Ziel eines Mordkomplotts. In diesem Komplott kommt seine schwangere Frau um. Aber was wäre Mitch Rapp, wenn er sich dadurch aus der Bahn werfen lassen würde? Jetzt geht sie los, die Verfolgungsjagd bis zu den Hintermännern und hohen Politikern des Komplotts, den Mittelsmännern und schließlich zu den Auftragsmördern. Fast alle werden sie im Alleingang umgelegt. Da kann man an den persönlichen Rechtsempfinden des Mitch Rapp nichts falsch verstehen. Ihn leitet Rache, sonst nichts. Mehr lässt sich zum Inhalt des Buches auch nicht sagen, denn der Inhalt ist im Wesentlichen der Rachefeldzug des Mitch Rapp. Man kann nur hoffen, dass es einen Mitch Rapp in der Realität nicht gibt. Im Buch war er wieder umwerfend; ein Pageturner. Spannend von Seite 1 bis zum Ende.

This is the 8th of the mitch Rapp series ive now read and by far the most emotionally powerful ! Had me going thru every feeling i possess and more.. By far the most enjoyable books ive ever read in my life ,it will be a sad day when i get to the last of the series as Vince Flynn to me is the ultimate master who was at the top of his game! He will be sadly missed.

Love the consistency of characters. Always fun and easy to read.
