Essential if you want to reverse direction on a DC motor
I added a 12vdc motor to my skid loader snow blower, the 3 way switch allows me to reverse polarity so I can now move tge chute in either direction without getting out if tge cab

Could be very useful, if you are willing to do a little work and fix mistakes.
Hello fellow humans, I am a nerd who received this product for review. First, as the product description so states, this is a 12V brushed DC gear motor which includes a mounting bracket, wiring harness, and two reversing switch options (momentary, and non-momentary). The bracket is a simple L-style bracket approximately 2mm in thickness. Nobody cares about the bracket, it is just a nice "treat" included with the purchase. Same thing with the wiring harness and switches, although I will say they are actually quite decent and appear to sufficiently sized to carry the 6A the motor is rated for. I tested the motor without a load, and its amperage draw at 12V on my testbench was ≈2.8A. The no-load output shaft speed was ≈ 50-55 rpm. As for the pièce de résistance, the gear motor itself. There is both some really good things, some "meh" things, and one definitely bad thing. The Good: The motor "can" is sealed with some type of vinyl tape which will help keep "crud" out. The wires from the motor are properly strain relieved (NICE). The gear box is sealed with a gasket and contains the classic worm reduction set up. The gear box does include all-metal gears (NICE) with the worm gear being steel and the driven gear being brass. While I was unable to test the 6Nm (≈4.43 lb.-ft for the uncivilized) torque claim of the listing, materials wise, the gear box should absolutely be up to the task. Whether the motor is, I cannot say. The "Meh": As it is an all-metal gear box, it is noisy. This is not something you're going to want spinning away next to you while you sleep. If you want a quiet gear box, find one with at least one plastic gear in the gear box. The gear box seemed to contain a minimally sufficient quantity of a tacky grease. However, I am unsure what type of grease was included in the gear box. Hopefully it is something sufficient for the high sheering forces of worm gears. The Bad: If you look at one of the images I uploaded, you will see areas I circled in red on the brass driven gear. The black material you see on the brass gear, is casting sand. This means the casting was not cleaned properly before or after machining or before final assembly. This is a MAJOR issue. This casting sand will come loss and it will grind this gear box to complete failure in short time. This is the type of mistake you should not be seeing from even the most amateur company. That being said, if you are willing to open and disassemble the gear box, and fix the errors where the factory failed to do their job correctly, or at all, I believe this could be a good and useful product. Another option is to just by a windshield wiper motor from a junkyard car. Cheap, powerful, probably doesn't have casting sand in it.

Gears: They Make My World Go Round
I Like lectric motors - long before Youtube existed I was re-purposing electric motors from discarded treadmills. Unboxing this Trexflow 50 RPM geared motor 'bout made me happy. This is a nice little geared motor - in hand it feels substantial for it's size. The motor itself is approximately 3 inches in diameter, 4 inches long, and with the gear box the overall length is about 7 1/2 inches. It weighs in at 3 1/2 lbs - which may not sound like much - but when in hand it feels hefty; it is definitely solid. It is not a cheap little toy, it's an EleCtRiC MotOr. Out of the box this baby is pretty much plug and play - the battery leads and switch are already wired, and they connect to the motor leads with two little water tight automobile connectors. I could have just alligator clipped the battery leads to a battery and gone to the races; I crimped on a couple spade connectors – took about a minute. The switch is nice – looks like it just got off the boat from the 1960's. It is forward and reverse, and the motor sounds beautiful in either direction. A 1/2” drill bit through the mounting material of choice will get the switch mounted in a jiffy with the included nut. Included in the box is an identical DPDT Momentary switch (forward – off – reverse) that can be swapped with the installed 'static' switch if you prefer the momentary flavor. I really like this little motor, and plan on using it in conjunction with a manual boat winch (that I will cannibalize and add a gear) to make a little shop crane for stuff that I, either, can't or don't like lifting. This motor is rated for 6 amps at 12v – so, 72 watts or 1/10th HP. I really don't know how much I'll be able to lift with it – the stuff I'm thinkin' about is in the 100 to 300 lb range (large Cincinatti dividing head, 30 HP motor, logs for 24” bowls, …). It shouldn't be a problem – the motor is geared to 50 RPM, the winch is geared to cut that in quarters, and I'll add a gear to the winch that won't leave me picking nose debris for a half hour. I wanted to get this awesome little motor reviewed / share my impressions of it while they are fresh on the mind. I'll come back for an update, and let you know how she fares. Gears stripped out after less than 2 minutes of very light use.
Gears stripped out after less than 2 minutes of very light use, I found that there is nothing actually supporting the other end of the worm gear/motor shaft, just a little thrust ball, the end of the shaft flexes slightly even under very light load and moves away from the driven gear and starts slipping, one second of slipping and the gears are destroyed. a 3 amp 12V 50RPM gear motor assembly powered this application for years ..... This 6 Amp, same RPM unit lasted less than 2 minutes. Very poor quality and construction.
