Can't go wrong with Nora Roberts...
You really can't go wrong with Nora Roberts. I read this when it first was published & have been replacing physical books with digital. This one is a tear jerker. NR always does a wonderful job with her research so the cultural references to the Middle East are as accurate as possible. Her characters are irrepressibly likable (at least the Hero/Heroine). But NR is never about flighty irresponsible female characters. Her females are capable of living on their own & accomplishing many & great things in their own right. Sometimes there are emotional/psychological upheavals that they get through by leaning on friend or family. But you just know they could do it alone if they chose too. This story is right up her alley. The Heroine could totally accomplish her "Sweet Revenge" without the hero but the fact that she chooses to cooperate with him by including him says everything about the budding relationship. I like this type of story line. It acknowledges that when done right a loving relationship builds both parties & bonds them securely to each other. And if loving the main characters isn't enough, you will absolutely HATE her father for his unenlightened attitude & the overbearing way of life in his home. & it isn't a statement solely on Mid Est culture. If you look around you will see his behavior is in many cultures. It is abusive to the body, mind & spirit (which is where you will find yourself crying). Although it is an older novel It doesn't have that out-of-date vibe. I found it just as enjoyable today as the first time years ago.

Good story but …
I enjoyed this book as I often do Ms. Roberts creations. However, I was completely taken aback by the vast number of typos I found in the text . As a former proofreader I was first confused and then amazed and then somewhat amused by the sheer number of them . All of them were words that apparently spellchecker had substituted for the intended word such as: rims for runs, hoses for roses , lingers for fingers , tip for up , rah for run and shell for she'll. The funniest of these which took me several moments to even figure out what's the use of the word tolling instead of rolling which was placed right in the middle of a love scene so you can imagine my confusion . I won't say that I will never buy another one of Nora Roberts novels again, but this was definitely not up to her usual use of exactly the right word in a given situation . Her vocabulary as well as her charming and varied story lines have given me many hours of entertaining reading . This one unfortunately was entertaining for a completely different reason, and not one that I had previously expected from Nora Roberts .

Twists and Turns
I enjoyed the fast pace of the story and the way the story moved with new action. I learned things about that part of the world although I know it's fiction.

Now This is Classic Entertaining Roberts
Having recently partially reviewed Robert's new book "The Next Always" and hoping it does turn back to the entertaining storytelling this author is famous for, I can confirm that with this book, "Sweet Revenge" does just that. I was feeling really disappointed with myself that I haven't had the time or want to finish a book from cover to cover in a while. And this book was sitting on my self for a few months now. So, I finally picked it up and finished it within one night. With what is currently going on in the Middle East and with my class discussions focusing on such matters, this book by this talented author couldn't have been more apt in getting me back into the spirit of a good read. Now I know, that Robert's take on Islam may have cliche's and fallacies, but being a Political Science major, I took it for what it was, a work of fiction set in a distanced land. I must say, I felt disappointed that the couple didn't meet each other sooner, and that it took to long to get back to Jaquir. All in all, this was a good read. And for all of you who are loosing faith in Mrs. Roberts I suggest you read this one, if you haven't already, it will put her back at the top of your "To read" pile. Happy Reading!!!!

Ex library Hardback Sweet Revenge by Nora Roberts.
A first class second hand book. I have yet to read, but bought it as I love the Author. I had originally bought a reprint, but it had to be returned as the quality of the printing was so bad, cheap paper, ink too dark or light so impossible to read. Went for the original ex library version. Shipment obviously takes longer but it is well worth the wait. Great hardback copy with cover.
