Husband just had hip replacement surgery. We had an ice machine that someone let us borrow to help with the constant need for cold therapy to reduce inflammation, but it honestly was more effort, hassle, and took up more space in our home to deal with. So we tried this hip ice wrap and can say it is every bit as effective in delivering the needed cold therapy. In fact, my husband thinks it's giving a deeper cold. Ice pack on for 20-30 minutes, then to the freezer to be ready for the next session in about an hour. Note: The initial freeze period took a little longer, and if you forget and leave it on until it's warm, it may take a good hour to get back to its optimal state. Order 2 if you think that better suits your need for more frequent rotations. Again, we have found this to be an EXCELLENT way to recover. The velcro straps are VERY strong, they hold firmly in place. It's shape naturally contours around his hip and upper thigh. Size: He is 5'9", weighs a little over 200 lbs. and we bought the M/L. One other thought. We also have a flat ice gel pack that is about 10" x 13" or so... we have found that at times when he is in reclined position, it's easier to grab that one, place it in a pillow case, and then I can gently tuck the short end under his hip, and wrap it up around and over his front, then secure the loose end of pillow case with a bed pillow over top. I only say this because at times, he didn't want to stand up to more easily put this Comfytemp Hip Ice pack on, so having an alternative flat one has been helpful.

The ice pack freezes quickly and stays frozen on the hip/upper thigh for a prolonged period, relieving pain and swelling. If you’re planning hip surgery, I suggest ordering this ahead of time so you’ll have it when you arrive home. The Velcro straps are wide and easy to fasten the ice pack to the body. The ice pack is soft, durable, and of excellent quality. It’s easy to apply when frozen. I can easily lay it flat in the freezer so it doesn’t take up valuable real estate. I liked the product so much that I bought the second one, so I always have an ice pack ready to use. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 208 pounds. The extra-large size is a perfect fit for my body. I had surgery on September 9, 2025. Everything that could go wrong. It has gone bad after surgery. My hip has popped out of the socket thoroughly once and in and out at other times, the pain is excruciating!! These ice packs are a lifesaver. I’m lying in bed right now with one behind my hip and one at the front of my thigh where the surgery was done. I’d be lost without them! They work better than the pain medicine. IMO. These ice packs are honestly the best I’ve ever purchased, and I will rebuy them. If you’re going to surgery, you want to get these beforehand and have them ready to use when you get home. They are the real deal!

I had hip replacement surgery and needed to ice often. This was the best ice pack for my hip. The Velcro kept it on and secure. It stayed cold a long time. And froze pretty fast for next use. Highly recommend.

I love the size of it but it is kind of heavy. It slides down and doesn’t stay in place. The waist strap seems too stretchy or not sturdy enough to keep in place. It does work well while sitting or laying down. It has good flexibility for the size and it stays cold a long time

I used this ice pack following a hip replacement. It worked well. It’s very cold and stays cold for the 20 minutes on period. The Velcro keeps the pack in place if you need to walk around.

I’m wearing it now. I just walked out to Shed, cooked dinner with it on, it is Great. You do Not have to stop what you are doing to get Relief from the ice pack. Very sturdy with Long belt to fit various sizes

I have extreme sciatica problems at times. Did some research and was told to purchase this. I must say that it did help with the inflammation in my hip area but it's sort of awkward to wear. When my santatica gets inflamed, I just lay it on that area while I'm awake, it's pretty flexible that way. It chills very well in a good amount of time 15_20 min at best.

The gel pack came in very handy for my wife's hip replacement surgery. We purchased two: one in the freezer, one on her hip. Then back again. Easy to put on, not uncomfortable to wear.
