Trident 413701 Brake Pipe Flaring Tool 3/16 use in situ

Great tool, took a little practise but I can now create a perfect flare every time. Much better than the previous junk I bought from Toolstation.

I had brought the SilverLine tool with the bar, and various dies, got that under £20 from Toolstation. However i was not happy with the flares. And it was a bit frustrating to set the height etc of the pipe.Anyway gave up with that.With this tool, it was an absolute doddle. There are better versions of this, but this is soo simple and easy to use.I made one flare as a test. I took out the stop screw before clamping the pipe down with the other nuts. Still the flare was really good.Done it again, ensured the clamp nuts were firmly tight.Then i used the little pot of grease. I suppose you can use red rubber grease, as it is the same thing. And then it literally took around 2 mins if that.I done one flare on the car and the off the car.One thing, ensure that you leave enough pipe to fit into the tool before bending it or cutting it. As i cut the pipe, put the union nut on, then there was not enough length left on the pipe to reach the stop screw.

Out of the box, it was clear that this was a quality piece of kit. Made in the UK - need I say more? It worked first time as it should. If you are not familiar with flaring brake pipes, take the time to practice using it. If you are flaring an existing pipe on the vehicle then it pays to clean any paint/or plastic coating off the pipe. The instructions do describe the preparations necessary. I was a little wary as the brake pipes on my vehicle are coated steel, so I was a little worried that the pipe might split. Worries were unfounded as the flare went perfectly. All in all an excellent product.

Easy to use, just take your time to ensure it is correctly aligned on the end of the brake pipe before you start.

Arrived quickly exactly as I needed for replacing brake pipes in situe no need to replace the whole pipe which would have taken a lot longer

Absolutely brilliant. I’ve never tried to create a flare before but after researching many types of flare tools this was recommended. I now know why. Easy to use. Easy to follow well written instructions. Enabled perfect flare first time. Going to save me a fortune now I can create my own brake pipes rather than buying pre-made ones.
