Why is the detailed information about historic textiles excavated from graves in another country so fascinating? No idea. But it is! I love this book and am slowly making my way through its pages.

Great history and so much detail in the clothing! I absolutely love and recommend this book if you are into Viking reenacting and historical costuming! It’s worth it’s weight in gold!

If you enjoy those "archeological dig" televisions shows, then this book is ten times better, at least. Well set out, great pictures, absolutely fascinating and all information very accessible. This book is a fantastic read, I think that anyone interested in Viking Culture, Medieval History, and Textiles and Fashion throughout the ages will adore this book.

A must have for anyone trying to recreate garments from the era.Be aware that "Medieval Garments Reconstructed: Norse Clothing Patterns" should also be purchased as a reference.

I really enjoyed this book, and I am planning on using the information to make my own garments. I am involved in medieval reenactment, and my persona is a Viking woman, so this book really excites me.

This book goes into the weaving, dyeing, thread production, types and amounts of animals needed for cloth production in the Greenland colony in the 14th century. Highly recommend it especially when the author comes to something that she didn't know she says we have no idea.

excellent book on the greenland norse garments. It includes a short norse settlement history, information on the finding sites, other'(relevant) material culture and pletifull detailed information on the garments itself.

I loved it. It was incredibly technical and detailed but still easy to read and digest. For any lover of historical textiles it is a fabulous resource.

Hochinteressante Funde in Grönland, sehr selten in der Erhaltung und Vollständigkeit der Textilien. Auch für Laien klar und informativ. Regt dazu an, sich mit dem Thema ausführlicher auseinander zu setzen.Die Kapitel beziehen sich auf einzelne Kleidungsstücke, die detailliert beschrieben werden. Was mich besonders erfreute war, dass die Bindung angegeben ist und auch Informationen zum Spinnen gegeben wurden, so dass sich der Prozeß der Herstellung gut nachvollziehen ließ und das, was für ddie grönländischen Textilien typisch ist.

Sehr informatives Buch, schade das es sowas nie auf deutsch gibt.

Übersicht über alle in Grönland gefundenen Gewandungen, inklusive Webmustern und Schnitten.Sehr guter zeitlicher Überblick und ein gefundenes Fressen für den geneigten Reenactor.Auch schön zum Schmökern.
