A new classic, a must-read for any adult with a body
This book is brilliantly written, funny, incisive, witty, insightful, and an absolute must-read for folks of every gender! Chapters are organized in pairs, bridging memoir and cultural critique in small sets that feel like the push and pull of a lifting workout. This book isn't just for men, as everyone has a unique, perhaps even complicated, relationship to the gym and with their body. SWOLE unpacks the messages men receive about their bodies from popular culture across decades, even across millennia reaching back to Greek and Roman antiquity, only to deposit us back into the world of "manfluencers" and "mythculinity." A new classic!

Brilliant and Insightful
This book is brilliantly written! It's funny, deep, light-hearted, and insightful. Although I'm a woman, the topic of masculinity and the desire to be BIG has always been curious to me. SWOLE takes the reader on a well-researched and nostalgic journey of masculinity and muscles with hilarious quips that keep the pages turning. Highly recommend for all humans!
