The Positive Reviews Are True!
I am getting back into archery. This is my first recurve after shooting compound as a kid. I love this bow. I've been shooting it several times a week for nearly a month now. The riser lamination is beautiful. The fit and finish are very good. It is lightweight and accurate. The grip is slimmer than other recurves I've handled and fits my hand perfectly. This kit is impressive for the price. The V Force carbon arrows are far better than I expected. Based on their reviews I ordered an extra dozen with my kit. I don't anticipate feeling the need to upgrade them anytime soon. Overall this is a starter kit I am confident I can grow with. The hard case is very good. I don't know that I'd fly with it as luggage but it is excellent for hauling everything I need to the range. The arrow storage is generous (15 fit with no problem). I have only two minor complaints. The stick-on arrow rest flew off its adhesive backing after the third arrow shot. I had a desire to shoot off the shelf anyway so I installed a Bear hair rest. Secondly, the arm guard doesn't stay in place very well. But it gets the job done and at least the kit came with one! I can't recommend this kit enough. After getting lost in videos and forum threads for a couple of weeks while shopping for a recurve I wondered, "Can't I simply find a kit that has good stuff and is ready to go?" Well, this is that kit.

Gorgeous
Great bow for beginners. A friend recommended it to me and it’s very easy to put together. Great set of practice arrows that are lightweight and perfectly straight. I highly recommended this set.I bought the 29lb pull and it’s the perfect for me at 5’3” 185lbs. All the accessories included make this an outstanding deal!

A great bow for beginner archers
TL; DNR : an excellent beginner's bow with a kit lacking some needed basic gear. _ # 1. I needed a bow for one of my children, who wants to pursue the sport. She is a very tall mid-teen, lithe but with a strong body after a decade of training martial arts, so a non-ILF, takedown bow with 64" (AMO-)length and 25-30 lbs draw weight seemed best for a young archer currently with 29" of draw length. After comparing beginner's gear, I bought her the Spyder XL 64"/29-lb bow kit of Southwest Archery [SWA], which should be suitable to handle further growth before thinking of switching to an ILF bow. # 2. The Spyder kit does not include all the basic gear needed for archery : it lacks a leather finger tab or glove; a bow square; cramp-on nock points plus nock pliers, or serving thread for tied in points; and string wax. I did not have to buy these since we have them at home, but had to buy my daughter a chest protector. Given the current zeitgeist, one would expect this to be included as an optional item in a bow kit (wake up and smell the coffee, SWA). # 3. The riser is made of white oak, Dymond wood (birch hardwood veneers with a phenolic resin), and reddish padouk wood. It has four threaded bushings for attaching an arrow rest or a plunger, stabilizer, and sight. The limbs are available in draw weights from 20 up to 60 lbs; made of a hard (sugar) maple wood wrapped in fibreglass, they have reinforced limb tips compatible with Fast Flight or Flemish strings. As shown in one attached figure, the upper and lower limbs are identified by tags on the back that include the serial number, required to register the bow at the SWA website for its one-year warranty. (Reversing the upper and lower limbs changes the bow tiller, something that some three-under style archers do to a non-ILF bow lacking tiller adjustment.) The XL limbs are interchangeable with those of the Samick's Journey, the taller version of the Sage model; the 5/16-18" bolt limbs, hex driven in Spyder bows but hand driven in Samick ones, are also interchangeable. # 4. The nominal brace height (distance between the string and the throat of the bow grip) is between 8" and 8.75" for the XL bow. This distance is affected by the common elongation of bow strings with use. The included Tachyon's Dacron string (14 strand, 60" length, endless-loop) fitting this AMO 64" bow is a polyester material commonly used in older style bows, though outmoded in modern ones as it is stretchier than the newer HMPE string material. It is plausible that the expected Dacron's stretching is the reason why SWA departs from the standard 3" difference between the AMO length and string optimum length, and uses a 4" difference. # 5. Despite being in the bottom category ("Sport") of the Good-Better-Best model of arrow shaft straightness with +/-0.006", the included Victory's VForce .245, 31" arrows are rather good. Made of high modulus carbon fibre, they are spine aligned, and the included trio indeed has the proper static spine, 600, for the shaft length vs. the in-between draw weight of this 29-lb bow. By now my daughter shoots well enough to appreciate the frustrating difference in arrow grouping between good quality vs cheap arrows, so I separately bought more VForce arrows to facilitate her practice. # 6. The included dual-cap stringer tool of rubber-like material has been, contrary to what is claimed in a review, strong enough to string and unstring the bow two or three times a week without adverse results. Used correctly, this tool involves minimal chance of stress to the limbs, unlike a loop-and-cap stringer tool with a mispositioned loop or, worse yet, the Step Through method. Its woven nylon rope has an annoying tendency to tangle; make sure it is free of actual knots before tensing it to string the bow. # 7. The included PU plastic arm protector, 8.4" long, covers ~80% of the forearm of the average adult (10"), lacks ventilation holes, and its three adjustable elastic straps often became loose from the retainers after being tightened. Since my daughter does not naturally overextend her elbows, she now uses a shorter length protector. # 8. Per direct SWA recommendation, the bow is unstrung between practice sessions (as I would do with any wooden bow, to avoid unrecoverable string stretching as well as potential loss of draw weight by memory warping of the wood). Its limbs, though, are not removed but for travel, because that has the potential to modify a bow's tuning. To preserve its useful life, the bow is never stored standing up on one limb end, but hung on pegs on a wall of a climate-controlled room of the house (see my other attached image). _

Good but not worth the money
1. Bow is good. Not great. Had a couple small cosmetic blemishes. However, it does work.2. Arrows are good.3. The included arm guard is the cheapest thing I have ever seen. The closure snaps are pure junk. You have to press them very hard against your arm to close them.4. Instructions included??? NOT!5. The case is very thin and cheaply made.As a kit, it is not worth the money. You can buy superior items separately for less money.

Great starter kit and great value for money.
This is the kit I wish I had bought first! If I didn't already have another bow for my kids I would have bought her a second one so she could grow into my limbs as I grow out of them. The price is great. The entire kit is well put together. I recommend getting more arrows.I did have a issue with the limbs but they have sent me new ones at no cost to me.

Tremendous Value and Excellet Quality
Excellent value! Very happy with this purchase. The craftsmanship of the wood on the bow is beautiful and the quality of the 3 carbon feather fletch arrows are very good. I looked to purchase more and they are not cheap. I am a beginner so not quite ready to spend that much on a single arrow but happy begin my archery experience with a good quality bow and good arrows. This entire package is a fantastic value.

Nice looking
Met expectations, I'm not a archery person, but wanted something to experiment with because a friend of mine said it would interesting. I took a class without equipment and it was a disaster so i bought this set to better develop my technique. Also, to determine if i would continue. This set seems to be high quality for the price. 3 Arrows provided are significantly better than those in class.
