I have quite a few appliances of different brands that have various functions and I'm sure some of the functions are duplicated. Although I have had most models of the NuWave ovens in the past, this NuWave Primo Grill/Oven is my favorite. All of the other NuWave oven models heat only from the top, so almost everything cooked in the has to be turned.This oven is touted as a grill, but I use it primarily as an oven. The advantage of this oven over previous NuWave oven models is that it heats from both the top and bottom, and you can adjust the percentage of heat for both. Although this oven does not come with racks, you can buy racks on Amazon that make this oven so much more useful than just a grill.For this grill, you can buy 2" and 4" racks that, when used together make 2-level cooking possible. My favorite for using both racks is to heat and crisp frozen broasted chicken and potatoes. The potatoes go on the 4" rack upside down (so it's a 1" rack" and the chicken goes on the 2" rack placed on top of the 4" rack. From frozen, both are crispy without turning in 25 minutes. Using the 2" rack, I have also cooked whole chickens that were done to perfection, without turning and using the probe, in less than 90 minutes for a 5 lb. chicken.Another useful accessory you can find on Amazon is extender rings and a turkey holder. These rings raise the upper heating element, and the holder helps to hold the turkey upright. So you can cook a 20 lb. turkey in about 3 hours at 10 minutes per pound. This is much faster than cooking a turkey in a conventional oven, and it turns out evenly browned, perfectly cooked, and has a crispy skin with no basting or turning. For me, cooking a turkey or a large chicken makes this oven invaluable.Another accessory I have found helpful is grill mats. I use one under the grill to catch drippings which help to save the pan under the grill and makes cleaning easier. I also use grill mats on the grill when I am using the racks. This protects the grill from dripping on the grill plate and so the grill does not need cleaning when using the racks.At this point, I am going to share another one of my favorite recipes that I use for halibut cheeks, scallops, and shrimp.- Line the baking pan with aluminum foil and put a 1/2 stick of cut up butter into the pan. Put the pan on the 4" rack and turn the oven on at 350 degrees for 3 minutes to melt the butter.- Add 6 or more minced garlic clove to the pan, and turn on the oven at 350 degrees for another 2 minutes to cook the garlic.- Dredge the seafood in the butter and garlic and arrange it in the pan.- Sprinkle seasoned bread crumbs over the seafood, and then sprinkle grated parmesan cheese over the bread crumbs. Then sprinkle finely chopped fresh parsley on top (dried parsley can also be used).- Put the pan back in the oven, and set the temperature to 375 degrees for 8 minutes.- Plate the seafood over rice pilaf and pour the garlic butter in the pan over the seafood.- Serve and enjoy!!So far, I have described accessories that make this oven move versatile, but what makes this oven stand out above others?1) Duel heating from top and bottom that can be adjusted to provide more or less heat from either level. Using the racks, foods don't need to be turned for even cooking.2) Temperature can be set in 5 degree increments and time can be set in 1 minute increments for exact control.3) Staged cooking can be set so searing can be done for a set time and cooking for another. Staged cooking is automatic so you don't have to oversee cooking.4) For cooking you do often, you can program settings, but you need to record the program number for the settings you choose. To be honest, I don't use this features as I just record time and temperature on my recipes.5) Although I don't always use the probe, it does eliminate the guesswork in knowing when foods are cooked to the desired temperature. It is very helpful when cooking a whole chicken, a roast, or steaks. By using the probe, you don't have to monitor the internal temperature of proteins. The oven will let you know went the set temperature has been reached.6) Using the extender rings, a whole turkey can be beautifully cooked at 3 minutes/pound. This means a 20 lb. turkey can be cooked in about 3 hours without basting. This can't be done in any of the toaster oven type ovens.7) By using some of the available accessories, this unit is excellent when used as a grill, but can also replace a conventional oven.I have included pictures of a couple of my favorite dishes made in this oven, bison roast with veggies. baked garlic scallops, and stuffed portabella mushrooms. Possibilities are limited only by your imagination.In summary, this is much more than a grill if you get some of the accessories. You can cook anything in this oven that you might use a conventional oven for, but much faster and with better result. As many appliances that I have, this one has a permanent place in my kitchen.I hope this review was helpful for you.

This is my 5th Nuwave purchase (2 for my relatives). Bought the first one in 2010. Love this energy saving grill and oven. Easy to wash or put grill and some in dishwasher. Cuts fat, leaves meat and baked potatoes juicy inside and crispy skins.

I had a problem with the first one when I plugged it into 240v and now it doesn't work but Amazon gave me a good rebate.. it's cheaper for me to buy a new one so I did as I've been using these off and on for 10years or so and rate them highly as I also still have one of the original ones.. this a big leap forward with the grill plate and cooks just as fast if not faster than the ninja and others as there's no wait time, no need to wait for defrosting and it can expand to a 30lb turkey.. YouTube doesn't show many cooking a turkey as it's not easy and they say the chicken is crispy when it's burnt.. the chicken doesn't need herbs to taste nice from this cooker..big shout out to wave oven recipes.. I've cooked 4 1.9kg chickens since buying this and everyone although not crispy skin because I cook at lower temperatures turned out amazing.. didn't need to turn it, didn't need to salt it or herbs..40 to 50 minutes with roasted veggies.. I've made 4 apple sponge pudding and they were all good.. now I've made the best bread I've had at 400f and not the 450 recommended in the recipe.. so you need to learn how to cook experiment.. there's a heat trap under the grill and if you cover the grill with pizza pan put some water in the base..it can't get past 212f so it won't hurt the base

I have had several of these. They cook food faster. They brown nicely. 4 stars because as everyone says, the covers never stay locked no matter how well you lock them in place. This time I purchased insurance so of course, this one will probably last beyond it, right? Isn’t that how it works? My fault last time. I tried to cook two pounds of chicken that almost touched the top so I believe the moisture shorted out the heating element.

This is my THIRD NuWave Pro Grill and it's by far the most inferior! I received this as a gift from my boyfriend because I REFUSED to buy another one on March 21st or 27th. The two previous domes cracked repeatedly. This one, the dome has MELTED in a section. Worst yet, the heating element is no where near correct because EVERY time I lift it, AFTER tightening it, it comes apart! Don't get me started on those RIDICULOUS, so called guards meant to hold the heating element and the dome. They pop off repeatedly and you'd better not move if you're foolish enough to use it!I don't want ANYBODY asking me questions through Amazon! I asked a simple question about how the "new and improved domestic cracking"? She wrote back, I haven't had any problems with MY OLD ONE"! That's NOT what I asked!!If you've got money to throw out the window, buy it. It's straight up trash AND instead of 50/50 percent for cooking, it automatically sets at 30% upper and 70% lower for uneven cooking.Asurion won't replace the dome either! Says my 3 yr protection plan only covers mechanic. They're a bunch of shysters too! On 8/20/24 I was told they'd Mail out another dome. I call back 9 days later, there's no claim! I'm then told the "parts department" is ordering it, with no claim! I call back a 3rd time to cancel ASURION and was told they "couldn't give me a confirmation number or email saying my money would be refunded for TWO HOURS, because there are other customers ahead of me"! Let's not even talk about the accents so thick you can't understand what ANYBODY is saying!!
