First, I should explain that I was not paid to write this review nor given any incentive to write it. I wrote it because I am truly impressed with this unit. I should also explain why I'm buying an MP3 player when most smartphones can perform this function easily. This MP3 Player is for my brother-in-law who is blind and mentally challenged. He lives in a group home 400 miles away from me and relies on staff to help him. He loves music (as a matter of fact, he is the Rainman of music from the 50s and 60s). Over the years, I've purchased many MP3 players for him and most are cheap, difficult to use (even for a person with vision and normal cognitive functions) and rarely last more than a year. When his latest MP3 player died, I tried to find something better. What struck me right off the bat with the MYMAHDI unit was the size. It's about the size of the original Apple iPod (see picture comparison). It feels really well built and has a clean touchpad interface. If you read their description, you can see it is more than just an MP3 player as it has apps for many functions. But since I'm only interested in the MP3 player feature, this review is focused on that.PACKAGINGThey could have just stuck this unit in a plastic bag and I'd be happy but the packaging was just as impressive as the unit itself. The packaging makes for a nice presentation and is on par with any expensive smartphone. If you are giving this as a gift, it will make quite an impression. It also comes with everything you need .SIZE AND WEIGHTAs I mentioned, it is nearly the same size as the original Apple iPad. It has a very solid feel to it.INTERFACEMany of the cheap MP3 players have all sort of clumsy, difficult to use controls. Just holding these cheap units was a challenge because they were so small, you might accidentally push a button causing it to stop, skip, etc. Also, these cheap units were so difficult to use, the staff resorted to just turning it on and hitting play. This meant he was listening to the same songs in the same order day after day. I found this interface to be intuitive and easy to use. Simple functions like putting songs in shuffle mode on the cheap units were difficult. Every playback and sort feature was easy to use on the MYMAHDI. I felt comfortable knowing the staff could turn the unit on and put on shuffle mode or select an artist or whatever.SOUND QUALITYIf you are thinking of only playing music through the MYMAHDI unit's internal speaker, you will be greatly disappointed. It sounds tinny and cheap. However, I think most people would be plugging in headsphone (or connecting via Bluetooth) and for that, the sound quality is more than adequate.BLUETOOTHSince my brother-in-law does not have Bluetooth speakers, earbuds, or headphones, I did not test that functionality.SUMMARYThere are certainly less expensive MP3 players out there but for the money, this is the best one I've found. I'm very happy with my purchase and my brother-in-law is delighted to hear a bigger assortment of music because it's easier for the staff to use.

I ordered this MP3 player about 5 weeks ago, and when I received it, it had all the features that I was looking for at a reasonable price point. Features that stood out were: Bluetooth, different apps like Amazon Music / Audible, Spotify, plenty of space, and a handy music folder that could store and play various mp3 files. It also had an audio recorder to boot. Interface was intuitive and easy to use. All was fine and dandy till today, when my device just died.... not because the battery wasn't charged, but because the device just black-screened and went kaput even after charging overnight. Conveniently, it went kaput a short time after the return window closed so I just shelled out $64 for 5 weeks of music followed by nothing. With this in mind, when I buy an mp3 player, I'm expecting the thing to last two or three years minimum before it croaks or becomes obsolete. If I simply bought another one at this same rate of dysfunction (with a view to getting a minimum of 2 years of portable audio), the cost of owning this brand of mp3 player would be $1,280+. What good is a cornucopia of handy features if the thing just breaks down after 5 weeks of use? If I would've known that this thing was so flimsy, I would've passed. Pity I didn't.

Perfect gift and perfect to use while working long shifts

This is a decent player. All I wanted was something to listen to music and not drain my phones battery and use up its memory. This fits the bill perfectly. There were several paid reviews that have all been removed now but they all received a memory card. This does not come with a card but they are very inexpensive. I purchased a 128 GB card for $12. I see a bunch of negative reviews that were used products. Amazon does sell used/returned products but they usually say so. Best way is to always click "new" when doing a search. The touch screen is as good as any phone but the apps are limited. You can probably add apps by plugging into your computer and downloading them to this player that shows up as a drive. I use this while cutting the grass or cutting wood so we'll see how durable it is. Would be 5 stars if it came with a card.

edit** all of a sudden it is stopping and started playing songs intermittingly...hasn't even been a week yet! ***Considering the negative reviews on this, I was going to return this unopened but decided to at least check it out…it is awesome! I have shelled out tons of money on high quality earphones and DAP’s over the years so I was surprised how incredible this sounds! And it is super easy to figure out! I get my music from Apple and this has the Apple app right on it so I was able to download all my music in minutes! Highly recommend!!

This device worked well for about a week. My son loved it. Then it froze so completely that it took over a minute of holding the power button while plugged in to get it to turn off. Would not turn on at all. I ordered a replacement didn't through Amazon. When the replacement came it was clearly a used device and the cords in the box did not even match the device ordered.

Convenience of a small iPod touch that plays your streaming playlists on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YT Music ....Keeping your music separate from your smartphone has its advantages. Using other smartphone apps does not interrupt music listening. Device is smaller than a smartphone and easier to carry when exercising or traveling.Has both Bluetooth and wired headphone jack.

Earphone jack loose inside the unit. Broke today, 7/20/2024... return window conveniently closed 7/16/2024, so I guess it's heading to the trash... thanks.
