An unexpected opportunity to improve my athletes' performance
I originally read this book over the summer after listening to Dr. Saltzman in a great webinar on preparing kids for positive experiences in youth sports, and I was not disappointed. The book is great! After I reached out to Dr Saltzman, I was invited to participate in a workgroup discussing two chapters of the book a week over the fall and winter. As an endurance coach, I work with a wide span of athletes and would say that one of the most overlooked areas of performance improvement is the mental skills needed for competition and daily life.While I originally focused on this path in order to find new ways to improve my athlete's performance, I found a huge personal benefit as well, giving me a calmer more centered perspective in the face of multiple challenges this fall.A great read and workbook filled with actionable items that you can easily implement. Make sure to listen to the short recordings linked at the end of each chapter as they are awesome!

Mindfulness for Life
I am captivated by the mindset that it takes to be a great athlete. This book provides a thorough understanding of mindfulness practice for athletes. The ideas and skills presented by the author are applicable to all aspects of life- not just sports. Dr. Saltzman makes the concepts down to earth and easy to understand. Her book includes access to meditations that are very beneficial and easy to do. My favorites are "befriending your feelings" and "rest". If you are interested in mindfulness-do your self a favor and read this book. But, most of all.... do the meditations. You will find your own favorite meditation and be glad you did! I just finished the eight week course offered on her website and I highly recommend the Still Quiet Place for Athletes and Coaches class. Thank you, Dr. Amy Saltzman.

Taught me how to enjoy my competition life more
I've read the book 3 times now during the past 2 years and have implemented several of the concepts and techniques into my competition mental work. They've dramatically improved my performance as well as the overall experience of competing. Amazing book, I've recommended to numerous friends and family now!

Not at all what I expected
Not quite sure this person understands human behavior or anything about athletics for that matter. Lots of woo and new agey non-scientific information. Starts off the book with a self-promoting introduction. Don’t even want to donate it and have it in circulation!

Very helpful for athletes
As a Division 1 NCAA runner, this book has greatly helped me find flow and joy in sports. It has helped me get out of my own head and focus more on what I can control which ultimately helps benefits my performance. I would definitely recommend to any athlete who is looking to improve and believes focusing on their mindfulness skills could help!

Dr. Saltzman's book "A Still Quiet Place for Athletes" is a must read for any athlete or coach looking to develop the mental skills necessary to perform at the highest level. This book places difficult mental concepts into easily understandable lessons that have a major impact on anyone looking to increase their level of performance. "Mindfulness" und Sport
Was ist "Mindfulness" und wie wird das geübt? Dieses Buch überzeugt in jeder Hinsicht durch viele ganz konkrete Anwendungsbeispiele und führt den Leser schrittweise in das Thema "Mindfulness" ein. In den USA ist die bereits seit Jahren ein Riesenthema. Viele der ganz großen Megastars in der Sportszene üben sich in "Mindfulness". Aber auch in Europa scheint dieses Thema nun langsam anzukommen.
