Super strong monkey bars. They completed our climbing wall setup.

My daughter is obsessed with the monkey bars at school. So she asked for some for Christmas. My kids never play outside, especially during the snowy winter here in Utah, so I thought it would be a good idea to bring the fun inside. This was my favorite Christmas gift I have ever given them! They play on it non-stop! My 7 year old son used to be very weak for his age and now he can outlast me on these, and I'm a gym rat! I put the ladder rungs 12" apart and the monkey bars 14.5" apart (to be the exact same as the ones she has at school). We used two 2x4's (15 feet long), sanded, primed, painted. Screwed those 2x4s to the joists in the ceiling using some screws. I can't remember but think I used 6" lag screws. I used one per joist. Then screwed the monkey bars into the 2x4's using the screws provides. They are a little difficult to grip, so I offered to put some sort of tape (baseball bat grip tape, tennis racket grip tape, etc.), but my daughter prefers the feel of metal, she just goes through chalk like nobody's business. We put some old mattresses underneath for cushion. The monkey bars themselves feel like they will last forever.

These are super sturdy and they look so good on our little playhouse! They don't wiggle or move at all, even when an adult climbs up. I have to take away a star because several of them came with scratches on them, even though they were packaged super well.

So we purchased mostly the 17” matte bars with one wall of 13” bars for climbing up. These bars go from one end of the loft to the other and those are 17” in the ceiling and steps climbing down on opposite side. First off, these are well made, they look good too. We’ve had all the boys (my boys ages range from 4 - 11.5 years) and their buddies climbing and playing on these. Even the screws that come with these were pretty good. I can’t give it a 5 star because they have minimal grip. Need to either get grip tape or climbing gloves. I assume it’s because of the matte. The other issue is that the shipping takes forever. Why we don’t have all the bars up yet (only 18/24).

I have purchased these to build a wall ladder up to a loft we built in my son’s room. I have also used them for monkey bars. They are the perfect width for 16” wall studs.
