WWE Judgment Day 2006
WWE Cruiserweight Championship MatchGregory Helms vs Super Crazy3/5Not a bad little match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.Super Crazy got the match to a high flying start, with some high flying moves, in and out of the ring.In the end though it was Gregory Helms who cheated his way on retaining the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, with the use of the ropes.Jillian Hall vs Melina2/5Possibly the worst match of the night, as it was an all out scrap fight.Don't get me wrong, both these WWE divas are true talents, but this match didn't work for me.WWE Tag Team Championship MatchMNM vs Brian Kendrick & Paul London3/5Not a bad opener to the pay-per-view, with both teams being very competitive throughout the entire match. Mercury and Nitro were the dominating team, and had lots of chances of retaining their WWE Tag Team Championships. In the end though it was Kendrick and London who found a way of defeating Mercury and Nitro to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions.Plus after the match, there was a brutal fallout between MNM, who just lost their tempers and started brawling with one and other.Chris Benoit vs Finlay4/5What can I say, but an excellent one on one match, involving two superstars who know each other really well. This match was pretty much a technical match, that had a lot of in ring mat action and a lot of grapples on the mat.In the end it was Benoit who found a way of defeating Finlay e.g. the Crippler Crossface.Kurt Angle vs Mark Henry3/5A tad better than their match at Royal Rumble 2006, with Angle dominating the start of this match, and then was taken over by Henry. The match itself ended with Angle being counted out, and Henry declared the winner, but Angle wasn't finished with the World's Strongest Man.Angle did the Angle Slam to Henry, on the announce table which did not break, but the use of a steel chair did, when Angle struck Henry with the chair, and Henry crashing through the announce table.KOTR FinalLashley vs Booker T3/5I've seen better King of the Ring finals, but this match was exceptionally a good one.Constant back and forth action from both superstars, which had plenty of near pin falls.Though when we all thought that Lashley had the win in the grasp of his hand, it was taken away by Finlay, who struck Lashley with a weapon, and Booker taking the advantage of hitting a second Scissor Kick, to become the 2006 King of the Ring.Undertaker vs The Great Khali3/5Not a bad match, to what many people make it out to be.I have to admit that the Undertaker's efforts in this match was good, as he wearing down the Great Khali, with jabs and punches, and an exceptional amount of some good power moves.Though in the end, we the WWE fans were shocked when the Great Khali defeated The Undertaker, with a simple kick to the head, and of course we knew that this rivalry wasn't over.World Heavyweight Championship MatchRey Mysterio vs JBL4/5This match I would give match of the night to, as it really did deliver and these two always have good matches against one and other.A pretty back and forth action kind of match, with Mysterio picking up some good domination in the match and not allowing JBL to wear him down too easily.Though there was a point where JBL did have some domination over Mysterio, especially in between the match, with Mysterio busted up.In the end though it was Mysterio who found the edge of delivering the thunderous 619 to JBL, and Mysterio walking out of WWE Judgment Day 2006, still the World Heavyweight Champion.

ive seen plenty of ppv's, but i must say this was dissapointing despite its seemingly flawless matchcard. Mark Henry vs Kurt Angle was entertaining, but undertaker carried great khali through a truly atroucious match, the main event was also relatively boring.mnm vs london and kendrick 6/10Benoit vs Finlay 6/10super crazy vs helms 6/10Mark Henry vs Kurt Angle 6/10Booker t vs bobby lashley 6/10Undertaker vs khali 2/10JBL vs rey mysterio 5/10

It's just your average Judgement Day, really...
Judgement Day 2006. A SmackDown pay-per-view from the old days. Anything to be excited about from this particular year? Well, the main attractions were Rey Mysterio's very first World Heavyweight title defence against JBL and the King of the Ring tournament being brought back after a four-year-hiatus. For the most part though, this is a pretty forgettable show with some typical-exciting SmackDown matches, some absolutely rubbish bouts and the foundations being laid for much greater things.WWE Tag Team Championship MatchMNM (Champions w/Melina) vs. Paul London & Brian KendrickAbsolutely wicked opener where history is made. The white-hot heels MNM face-off against the equally white-hot London & Kendrick in a fast-paced, exciting blinder of a tag-team outing. Super tandem-offence and great work from all four wrestlers (plus Melina) make for an exhilarating display that you'd only get on SmackDown. Watch out for the ultra-pleasing outcome and the outstanding aftermath that follows. (8/10)Chris Benoit vs. FinlayTwo of the greatest mat-technicians in history, two proud veterans and familiar faces square off once more in a twenty-minute pure wrestling epic. Psychology, stiff-shots, fluid exchanges; it's just the kind of bout you'd expect from the likes of Benoit and Finlay. Simple excellence. (8/10)Jillian Hall vs. MelinaI've always believed that WWE could've done so much more with Jillian Hall. She was a great women's wrestler who deserved a better push than what she was given. Anyway, this is a solid women's match between two ladies who could put on a good contest. Finish serves its purpose in continuing the ongoing MNM storyline throughout the night. (6/10)WWE Cruiserweight Championship MatchGregory Helms (Champion) vs. Super CrazyAnother great outing from the longest-reigning Cruiserweight Champ in history. I still miss the Cruiserweight Division on SmackDown, and Super Crazy in particular reminds me why. Over with the crowd - particular with the ECW faithful - the Mexicool shines again with some terrific aerial offence and displays. Good work from both, good length...just a shame about the outcome and the cheap finish. (8/10)Kurt Angle vs. Mark HenryBack when the World's Strongest Man was in the midst of his 2006 main-event push it fell to Kurt Angle to try and get a good match out of Mark. And he does just that. Ever the pro, the Olympic Gold Medallist went out there and made the most of it. At the time, Henry wasn't ready for this (unlike his 2011 success), and the flat finish doesn't help any. But the aftermath is SO awesome that we really should be thanking Kurt again for being the legend he is. (7/10)2006 King of the Ring FinalBooker T (w/Sharmell) vs. Bobby LashleyI never wanted to see the King of the Ring go away, and I was so happy when WWE brought it back for 2006 (and has since come into play every few years). Admittedly, I've gotten much more excited for previous KOTR finals due to entire tournaments actually taking place on the NIGHT, instead of leading up to a pay-per-view here. Nevertheless, history IS made here as Booker T was FINALY given his long overdue push in what's a good contest. Sadly, it never really gets going but there are some nice exchanges between Booker and Lashley. Finlay's involvement works, and the aftermath is entertaining. (6/10)The Undertaker vs. The Great Khali (w/Daivari)This is where it all started. Khali's in-ring debut against one of wrestling's all-time greats, who unfortunately was tasked with establishing the giant as a legitimate threat. Taker tried his absolute best, but Khali's non-existent ability SHOWS, so it's only natural for the match to bomb. The ludicrous outcome doesn't make this any easier to digest. The ONLY blessing you'll get from watching this is knowing that at least it's not as bad as Undertaker vs. Giant Gonzales from WrestleMania IX! (2/10)World Heavyweight Championship MatchRey Mysterio (Champion) vs. John "Bradshaw" LayfieldThe main-event's build-up and the clash itself sums up in a nutshell all that was right and wrong with Rey's world title reign in 2006. Fed as a glorified jobber to Mark Henry and Great Khali, then coming into a defence against JBL with NO momentum? Talk about silly booking! Despite this trend haunting Mysterio's run, the man could at least show why he's most worthy to hold a world championship, as he puts in a valiant effort against Bradshaw, in a bruising, vicious main-event. Worthwhile main-event with a pleasing result. Match of the night. (8/10)There are three Home Exclusive extras on this disc. A ho-hum backstage segment between Chavo & Vickie Guerrero, a monotonous interview with the Great Khali, and (the best on offer) the 2006 King of the Ring's coronation from SmackDown. This is WORTH watching to see the rightful winner enter the next phase of his legendary career with a great segment. For historical reasons, Judgement Day 2006 is an event worth checking out, with all the title matches and Benoit/Finlay being things of excellence. Again though, Undertaker vs. Khali is abysmal, and that really sours the mood. The KOTR final (despite its importance and the greatness it would create for the winner) doesn't have the match-quality to reflect the stakes and really, this whole show wasn't something people were gonna talk about for years to come. Good enough from SmackDown, but hardly the best.
