Little harder to adjust up and down because of the pressure of the cylinder, but, so far so good. Much cheaper than buying a new chair and took all but 10 minutes to install with a couple clothes and a small hammer to nudge the old one out of the chair seat. Ill update if it goes out within a year.

The shock worked as it should and was easy to install

Used on a LaZboy office chair. Of course it is somewhat of a pain to get the old cylinder and sleeve out of the chair, but once you do replacing it is a breeze. This cylinder is holding up well so far (only installed for a few days now), and I like that this one sits a little higher than the one I took out. Well worth the investment to refresh your old office chair. I would note that this item does not come with any kind of instructions, but a quick visit and search on YouTube gives all the instruction you need to replace an office chair gas cylinder. Update 04/19/2021: Cylinder started to fail and had to replace, it started sinking again just like the the one I took out. It did last over a year however so for the price and it lasting that long I would still give it 4 stars. Went with the same product for replacement just the 'newer version'. Hoping to get another year out of this one as well.

Easy to install. Does the job. Will see how long it lasts. Helped save me a few $$ for sure on an existing office chair that needed a new cylinder but the rest of the frame was fine.

I work from home 40 hours a week and love to game on downtime. I am 6'4, 280lbs so it has been difficult finding a chair that is comfortable, let alone can hold me up for extended periods of time. After purchasing a pretty penny on the chair, the default lift failed me fairly quick. This product purchased almost a year and a half ago has held up with ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS.. Even at max height, having little to no give (Even plopping into the chair or when both of my children are sitting on my lap.) Very stable and definetly build to last, this very firm gas lift is NECESSARY for anybody looking for something to hold you up when you sitting down! 10 out of 10, 100% will buy again when purchasing a new chair.

My 4-year old home office desk chair would slowly lower throughout the day, to the point of becoming really distracting during meetings. It seemed a shame to throw it out and buy a new one, so I looked into replacing the cylinder. A couple of YouTube searches later and I found out that it's an easy thing to do at home as long as you have a decent pipe wrench and a 5-pound hammer. I ordered this new cylinder and it took me about 10 minutes to switch it out with the old one. It definitely has a longer stroke than my old cylinder, making my chair sit about 4 inches higher at the highest setting, but it works, and I can easily lower it to any height I want. Hopefully it lasts longer than my old one, but I'm happy with the purchase.

Our Quill Hazen office chair had a base recall, they sent a replacement for it and the chair began to lower on its own while sitting in it. We're not sure if we accidentally hit the center of the original cylinder or if we had exceeded the weight allowance, as I'm around 220lbs and our toddler will sit on our lap at times and he's around 40lbs. Due to the cylinder not remaining at our desired height, I began searching for a replacement cylinder that would hopefully last for at least the duration of the chair, with us having a growing child. This cylinder caught my eye, due to the weight allowance and 5 year guarantee, and placed the order. This gas lift cylinder included the gloves pictured and a business card that says to search for instructions online on how to replace the cylinder. The included gloves are of decent quality and have been added as a keeper in the toolbox, which have already been used for projects since changing the cylinder. Removing the current cylinder is easy enough using a rubber mallet or hammer and a wrench or a pair of vice-grips. This is a slow and steady project and should not be rushed, otherwise you might break something in the process and will need to replace even more. 1. Raise the chair to the maximum height (this makes step 4 easier). 2. Lay the chair on the floor. 3. Using a rubber mallet or hammer, hit the outer ring of the current cylinder, not the inside, while holding the wheel base until the 2 become separated. 4. Using a wrench or vice-grips, rotate the cylinder where it connects to the chair until it disconnects. You will more than likely need to go different directions to fully get the cylinder to release from the base of the chair. If using vice-grips, its easiest if they're applied at a horizontal direction and you're able to push from the top downwards. 5. Place the base of the chair, where the wheels are located, in the upright position (the direction that it will be once the chair is fully assembled). 6. Insert the large end, non-red cap, into the center of the wheel base. 7. Remove the red cap from your ToolKee gas lift cylinder replacement. 8. Place the chair on top of the gas lift cylinder and wheel base. This took approximately 10 minutes to install, due to getting everything ready to take the old cylinder out, doing the removal, installation and cleanup. We've had this for almost a month and have not had any issues, even though we have a little director of operations that likes to periodically give himself a raise, while sitting in the chair. I would definitely recommend this gas lift cylinder as a replacement to any office chair, as it was easy to install and can support quite a bit of weight. Seems like a universal fitment. Worked perfectly for me. Measure your old gas cylinder and ensure its the same height. I removed the black case because my chair had a different design however the silver part was standard size and fits well. There's small parts inside the black cylinder so be careful not to loose anything

Fits well, make sure to measure the travel of old one as majority on here were actually shorter. Need hammer/mallet and a pipe wrench to remove old one. Simply mallet hit bottom to loosen from cylinder and years of sitting in chair, top chamber pipe wrench needed to spin about to loosen from chair. Then simply remove the new cap on the new cylinder and place in the feet and then top chair and sit on chair and move up and down a few times and then it’s like new

I can't say enough about how incredible this product is. I bought a very expensive showroom demo office chair for $100. I then realized that it is possible to use this product to revive the chair to 'like new'! I suggest you don't throw out your beloved office chair and just put in a new lift. It takes some elbow grease getting the old one out, but you'll feel accomplished and pleased with this product. Give your chair some surgery and don't kick it to the curb😿

Bought it an year ago, still working fine. Slightly expensive than from local vendors but it shows in quality.
