Pro-TecAthletics Night Splint

The best small investment you could ever make if you need it!!!!!!
I slipped off of the top step of my porch (ice) and landed 4 ft. down with my right foot onto concrete. The pain was so immediate and intense. I have to wear an extremely heavy (Fred Munster) boot from the orthopedic doctor at a price tag of $312.. I turned my foot one direction and my leg the opposite way. I broke a toe, sprained my ankle, tore ligaments all over, and nearly ruptured my achilles tendon. This happened a month ago. Oh for the agony. The doctor said it would heal in 2 weeks. I kept turning my ankle with that monstrous boot. It was way too heavy to wear to bed. I sent away for a night splint from a home health store. It was made from eggshell mattress pad with velcro around it!!!!! It cost more than this and was a joke. My foot and back of my leg still hurt. I kept re-injuring them. I sent away for this to wear at home. It is stronger than the hospital boot on the outside. The inside is made for absolute comfort and durability to sleep and rest in. There is so much strength that you can't re-injure your ankle/leg at all. It does exactly what it is intended for, with added comfort for your foot and leg. Now I can heal the right way so I can get back to living again. Being an invalid is awful. This is the real deal. The outside layer is made from the same medical grade material as the orthopedic boot at a fraction of the cost.

ITS WORKING!
I've had severe pain (like a heel spur) in the bottom of one heel. Every morning when I wake up or in the middle of the night I can't walk. I hate doctors and dont go unless I have to but I bought this in hopes it would help. Literally after sleeping in this 4 hours one night i noticed a difference. A bigger difference after sleeping another 5 hours the next night. The pain is still there but im on day three. Its really remarkable I am so happy for this purchase. By the way its also good quality and comfortable.

Not Really Helpful
This support is supposed to help stretch the muscle in the bottom of your foot to help alleviate plantar fasciitis pain. I wore it for several weeks. First, it was hard to sleep with this thing on, it's kind of bulky. After several days, I got used to it, but then, into the second week, I started getting a sore on the back of my heel - I guess from laying on it all night. I stopped using it, and had to treat the sore, which was actually pretty bad. In the end I never felt it was helping, and then ended up with another problem to heal.

NO MORE CALF CRAMPS!!!!
This boot has changed my life. My husband had lower back surgery a couple years ago and ever since he has sever calf spasms and cramps. To the point he was jumping out of bed 4-6 times a night, so needless to say his quality of life sucked. Ever since we bought this boot he sleeps all night. His foot and toe stay straight so his leg doesn't lock up anymore. This boot is kind bulky but he seems to get around ok in it and fits decent a 14EW foot. I would recommend this or something like it for "drop foot" or calf cramps.

Lightweight aid
Generally speaking, I like the splint because it's lightweight and relatively easy to put on and take off. I'm having a little difficulty with the middle strap that goes over the ankle in that the length of the loose end tends to cause the whole ankle strap to loosen when it catches on bed covers, etc. Otherwise, it's very comfortable and easy to sleep with it on.

Product works, but already broken
I enjoyed this product as it really helped with my plantar fasciitis issue. However, a little more than 6 weeks, the rivet for the middle strap ripped out, and now the product is useless. It is past the return date on this. Just letting people be aware, the product does a good job, but is of very flimsy plastic.

ideal for fractured foot !
actually i bought it because i have fractured foot and couple of wounds, and because of the wounds i cannot have a cast ( need to change the dressing every day by myself) As an out of pocket patient i looked for some alternative for hospital splint .. and I found it , this product is awesome , perfect to keep my foot in one position !!

Worked well for me
I had a terrible case of plantar fasciitis for approximately 8 months. After wearing the night splint for about six weeks (both at night and when sitting for prolonged periods of time during the day), my foot finally feels normal again. However, when I first tried on the pro-tec splint, I almost sent it back because it bent my toes back too far. I read the instructions, and noticed that you can remove the cover and take out the foam wedge which was causing the toe issue (which I did). Then, I used the foam wedge on top of the cover (just slid it under my toes) so that I could adjust the stretch depending upon how the foot & toes felt at the time (the foam wedge even stayed fine during the night). I wore the splint for an additional 2 weeks after the pain had gone, and so far it has not come back. I will say that it did take a few nights to get used to it and did have to experiment to find comfortable positions (I wound up sleeping with a stuffed animal under my knee when sleeping on my side). Yet, in comparison to the foot pain of plantar fasciitis, that was a minor inconvenience...

The top velco strip doesn't stay on.. it ...
The top velco strip doesn't stay on ..it would come off in the middle of the night . This happened after the first week of nightly use.... I have to keep it closed with a large safety pin ! It helped my planters fasciitisAnd I got a slipper sock with anti skid buttons on the bottom and cut it so I could walk on it. That helped a lot. Now I don't have to take it off to go to the bathroom . I woukd of given 5 stsrs if the velcro strip was stronger .
