For the Boat
The winch on our boat trailer was old and difficult to use so we took a chance on this one and just used it for the first time for the long holiday weekend. I don't know if it was the old winch or this one that was the issue but when we went to mount the new one, the bolt pattern was the same, just backwards (my guess is the old winch). We were able to monkey it around and get it mounted and that is really the only issue we have had with this one. We have a large aluminum boat and this winch handled it with ease. It might be because the old one was sooooo bad that this one seems a dream by comparison but whatever, I will take it! We are very happy with the new winch and hope to continue with it for many more years.

Heavy duty, awesome gear ratio, very durable
I got this winch to replace a similar winch that broke. The previous winch was only rated for 800LBS, but I don't think I was applying anywhere near 800LBS of pressure/force or lifting anywhere near 800LBS. But I chose this 3500LBS winch just to be safe. This winch was a little more expensive, but I feel it's worth it.This winch is obviously much more heavy duty -- both in appearance and feel. Everything about it feels strong. This winch is a little bigger than my previous winch, but it still fits in the location where the previous winch was mounted. The holes line up and everything. There are a few things that affect the efficiency of a manual winch. The handle length can help give you more leverage. At the same time, it might cause you to have to move in larger motions. In my case, the additional leverage was nice as it means I don't have to apply as much force to get the same result. The gear ratio is another thing. My previous winch had only a 4:1 gear ratio. That might not seem bad, but if you're lifting 200LBS, you need to apply 50LBS of force (give or take). With a 8:1 ratio, you only need to apply 25LBS... that's much more reasonable. Having the option to switch between 4:1 and 8:1 is great.

Perfect upgrade for my current boat winch
I recently installed a 3,500 lb boat trailer winch on my trailer. The mounting process was straightforward, and it fits perfectly on my trailer, providing a solid and secure hold. When it comes to pulling my boat tight, this winch does an exceptional job. It has three speeds, which offer great versatility for different situations, whether you need a slow, controlled pull or a faster retrieval. One of the standout features is how user-friendly it is. Even my daughter, who isn't particularly experienced with boat equipment, finds it easy to operate. The handle and smooth gear transitions make it simple and efficient to use. The winch’s sturdy construction gives me confidence in its durability and long-term reliability, essential for frequent boating trips.Overall, this 3,500 lb boat trailer winch is a fantastic investment. Its ease of use, secure mounting, and efficient pulling capabilities make it a valuable addition to any trailer. Whether you're a seasoned boater or new to the hobby, this winch will meet your needs and exceed your expectations.I recommend this boat winch.

Good gear reduction
I got this for use on a utility trailer to help pull items up the ramp. The strap is long enough for my use as I also have a short chain. I’m never pulling anything near its rated capacity of 600 pounds so it should last a long time.I like how it is a green strap. To me, that makes it easy to see even at night. The gear reduction makes it easy to hand crank and its handle length is large enough to allow leverage when turning. It clicks into every gear tooth so there are no worries about it slipping a tooth and releasing the load.I recommend this for anyone that needs a simple winch that is easy to use.

Out with the old weak winch in with the new stronger winch
The original winch on the boat trailer was a 1700 pound winch. Cranking the boat up on the trailer was a bit of a challenge. The new winch (3500 lb or double the power) makes it a breeze. You might notice that both of the winches are mounted backwards... That is because there is a quarter inch steel step welded to the other side of the post that won't allow the crank to pass. The winch works great backwards as well. Great upgrade for the boat trailer.

Winch winches and works good
This winch replaced a 1300 lb winch on my boat trailer. The winch feels quite a bit smoother and more powerful, the center freespool function works good and was nice not to make a huge racket while pulling strap out. The hole pattern didn’t line up with the old but since it was a bigger capacity winch I didn’t mind that and drilled a new hole for it. The strap came from the factory very loose and I had to unspool it and wind it back up, and even after that it took a few uses to cinch all the way tight. Overall a good winch though and I’m happy with it.

Built well
I haven't used it for long but it's definitely built well and does a great job. I have mine on a MUTTS ATV trailer (large-ish dump trailer carrying upwards of 1500lbs). It lifts it no problem and does it at a decent speed too. A little noisy but what else can we expect from a winch.
