## Description

Product Description Centralized-Distributed Smart Home System Localization of Cross-Hub Automation Device Binding for Fault Tolerance Once integrated into the network, it assumes leadership over existing Aqara hubs, centralizing data processing and commanding other hubs for distributed computing. Automations previously implemented in the cloud between hubs will transition to local Edge automations, ensuring they remain operational even during internet outages. Certain routers or mesh repeaters implement automation if M3 Hub fails. For instance, Curtain Driver and Door/Window Sensor automation remain operational without M3, ensuring a seamless experience. Seamless Upgrade and Data Transmission Wired and Wireless Connectivity Options Focus on Privacy and Encrypted Storage Powerful Speaker and Custom Ringtones Flexible Placement and Easy Setup The M3 allows for straightforward migration from older Aqara hubs, enabling seamless network upgrades without manual device reconnections. The M3 offers dual-band Wi-Fi with WPA3 security, PoE support, and a USB-C allows for UPS/power bank connections, ensuring robust and versatile connectivity. The M3 prioritizes privacy by omitting microphones and cameras, featuring end-to-end encrypted local storage and 8GB eMMC for secure data. The hub's 95dB speaker functions as an Aqara Home Alert siren or for announcements, allowing custom ringtones to be integrated into automations, even without an internet connection. The M3 comes with a mount, screws, and sticker for easy placement on flat surfaces, walls, or ceilings. Once powered, MagicPair enables automatic Aqara Home app detection. Smart Home Automations

Review: Powerful, reliable… with great support - I’ve used a lot of hubs over the years, and most fall into two categories: “limited” or “temperamental.” The Aqara M3 has ended up being the brains of my smart home — but I’ll be honest, we had a rocky start. Setup – mostly smooth Getting it up and running was straightforward, and adding devices was quick. It immediately felt like a more capable, future-proof hub compared to many others I’ve used. Connectivity superpowers This thing is a proper multi-protocol workhorse: ✔ Zigbee devices pair fast and stay connected ✔ Matter devices integrate nicely ✔ Acts as a Thread Border Router ✔ Brings multiple ecosystems together in one place It’s reduced my hub clutter and made automations far more centralised. The UniFi hiccup (and excellent support) I did run into some early issues using it on a UniFi Network setup. Certain Matter connections were being stubborn and things weren’t behaving as expected. Here’s where Aqara really impressed me: their support team stepped in, made some backend adjustments remotely (actual wizardry), and after that everything settled down and started working properly. Since then, it’s been solid. So if you’re on a more advanced network and hit issues, don’t panic — support clearly knows their stuff. Reliability – the real win Since getting past that initial network quirk, the M3 has been excellent. - Automations trigger quickly - Devices stay connected - No random reboots or “offline” moods It’s the kind of device you stop thinking about — which is exactly what you want from a smart home hub. Local control = fast responses A lot of automations run locally, so things respond quickly and don’t fall over if the internet has a wobble. Lights and buttons feel instant, not cloud-delayed. Verdict Early networking hiccup aside (which support sorted quickly), the Aqara M3 has turned into a rock-solid, extremely capable hub. If you want one hub to handle Zigbee, Matter, and Thread and you value strong support behind it, this is an easy recommendation. Now it just quietly runs the house like a tiny, sensible overlord.
Review: Hub for a home - I knew that I needed a hub but I’didn’t know which hub to buy so I just jumped in and bought the M3. I couldn’t find anything that explained what each was able to do. I have a home to smart tech to and the M3 looks like it will do what I need. It’s easy to add items and to program. It looks to be well made so I’m happy

## Features

- [Multi-Protocol Hub with Matter Bridge] The M3 is a versatile hub supporting Aqara Zigbee (**Not third-party zigbee device) and Thread devices. It integrates third-party devices into the Aqara Home app (currently limited to select device types, will be expanded over time). Supports advanced Matter bridge functionality, enabling Aqara-exclusive scenes and signals to sync with Matter ecosystems such as home assistant for seamless integration. Supports up to 127 Aqara Zigbee devices and 127 Thread devices (Repeaters are needed).
- [Edge Compatibilities and Local Automations] The M3 serves as an Edge Hub, prioritizing local control and automation. Upon integration, it supersedes existing Aqara hubs, shifting the automations among them to local operation (*Some cloud-based notifications still require internet). Upgrade-friendly, it supports migrating Zigbee devices from older Aqara hubs. (Reconfiguration is needed for Matter and HomeKit; Cloud integrations like Google Home and Alexa retain all the configurations.)
- [Smart IR Blaster with Feedback and Learning] The 360°IR blaster not only sends commands but also provides accurate status updates by detecting traditional remote use. It connects IR air conditioning units to Matter, functioning as an AC thermostat when paired with an Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor. (Note: Only one AC device can be exposed to Matter. Functionality may vary based on the Matter integration app. For Apple Home exposure, use Matter integration instead of HomeKit.)
- [Optimal Wired and Wireless Connectivity] Offering both wired and wireless solutions, the M3 provides dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4/5 GHz) with advanced WPA3 security, and a Power over Ethernet (PoE) port. The addition of a USB-C port allows for mini-UPS and power bank connections, delivering unparalleled stability. (*2A USB power adapter is not included.)***Note that for a stable connection, please place M3 within 6 meters of the router.
- [Privacy-Focused with Encrypted Storage, Easy Setup and Versatile Placement] The M3 prioritizes privacy by excluding microphone or camera components. It boasts 8GB end-to-end encrypted local storage, for device lists, configuration parameters, and automation configuration data. Additionally, it includes a mount and screws for flexible placement on flat surfaces, walls, or ceilings. Magic Pair technology ensures effortless detection by the Aqara Home app upon power-up.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Reliable Hub
*by E***K on 15 May 2024*

I’ve been using this hub for almost 1 week and honestly recommend it. Here is my summary: Pros: 1. All Aqara and Philips Hue ecosystem devices connected seamlessly and working superb so far. 2. My main purpose was to build a DIY home security and apparently it’s working fine. 3.Apple Homekit also recognised the Hub as Homekit Security item. 4. Hub’s IR blaster is also easy to set up and I’ve connected my old light strip to the home via adding IR remote of the light strip. 5. This hub has almost every type of wireless comms protocols in the market, so a strong candidate for a central brain for our smart homes. Cons: 1. I’m aware that this hub is not allow the users to add P2 door&window sensor and I can wait for the update for this issue. 2. Some other Matter-compatible devices are not supported yet I’ll update here after getting some additional observations.
