What length would be recommended for a size US 9 running shoe (Adidas Climacool)?

I am not familiar with that shoe. I ordered 42 inch long to replace 45 inch laces on my New Balance 609. I found these to be too long and would order 36 inch in the future. (I do not use the top 2 holes so this is not a recommendation for the 609).

Can you use them without the locks? Could you "tie" them (like if you wanted to use them with dress shoes) if you wanted to? Thanks!

I don't know but I have thought about doing that myself but check the thickness. Some of my dress shoes have tiny lace holes. Let me know how it turns out.

what length should i purchase

Erin - I wear a women's 7.5. Most of my speedlaces are 30" with room to spare. (Per the Speedlaces website sizing guide: if your shoes have holes with loops, you can go smaller. If your shoes are high-top, you might need the next size up.) I bought a pair for my male friend's low-top shoes which were 34" & he said they were perfect for him. In general, you need MUCH LESS lace length than regular laces.

IS color yellow or neon green?

They do sell both an Neon Green and Yellow version of these laces. I have them both but had to purchase them through different retailers here on Amazon.
