Worthwhile buying.
Although it was published a few years ago the information is still relevant. I have read a lot of information in this book.

❤️ YES
Lots of solid information for all in general. Figure types are limited ... I, H and O figures are not addressed at all while A, X, and V are covered in detail, with the slim and not-so-slim, all accommodated. Shapes for O types may suit formulas for developed V figures. Many of the suggested brands are often not available in the UK unless paying for overseas postage. All in all, a good book. No photos but charming and very effective line drawings.

As someone who is working consistently to become a five ...
As someone who is working consistently to become a five star personal stylist I must admit I learning a lot with this book, I really resisted but because of it took all my measurements and re-accessing my capsule work/going out wardrobe. My only only criticism is that for a Fashion book I would expect quality photos of real women. why is a book written by a person at the top of her game in the world of fashion hardly has any photos and so much text?

Great information for all bodytypes
Excellent book for personal stylists or for someone who wants to know how to look and feel good in their bodytype - even as plus size. I definitely recommend this!

An invaluable book
I can't believe the poor reviews that this book has got - it has become one of my fashion bibles, along with More Dash Than Cash. Does Vanessa Vinos really not understand how publishing works? I very much doubt it was Kendall Farr's decision to run this book without photographs, but her publishers'. To be sure, it could do with them, but anyone with an imagination can work out what they need from the drawings. I think this is an excellent book. The advice to measure yourself and go shopping with a tape measure is brilliant. The focus on frame, not flesh, is brilliant. The description of how a jacket is constructed wasn't news to me because I sew, but I've never seen it in a fashion book before. Full marks to Kendall Farr for this little gem, which I re-read every six months.

Three Stars
It has very good content. However I would like to have examples and pictures.

What a disappointment!!!
The Pocket Stylist is supposed to be all about the visual effects of clothes, colours, textures etc, and yet there is not one photgraph to illustrate any of the points being explained. Which is ironic as the author states on the back cover of her book her husband is a photographer!!! Instead there are pages and pages of text, with one or two accompanying line drawings. This has got to be the most unstimulating book on fashion/colour/style I have ever read. Surely it is much easier to show a picture of the ideal style of jacket (for example) than explain in three pages the look you are wanting to achieve. What this book takes 6 pages to describe, Trinny and Susanne do with one fantastic photograph.Perhaps there are lots of useful facts in the book, but trawling through pages and pages of text took the joy out of what should have been visually stimuating and motivating. An absolutely boring experience!

not helpful
Fortunately I bought a second hand copy, because the contents are really not that helpful. might as well google for tips on how to dress stylishly than spend the money on this book.

;))Grossartiges Buch!!!

Great Resource!
Confession - I'm 28 years old and have no stinking clue what I'm doing when it comes to shopping. The result? I don't shop. And when I do shop, I inevitably have a breakdown in the middle of the store because I am so overwhelmed and discouraged. After my latest round of shopping issues, I decided it's time to seek help. My fiance recently purchased a men's version of this book (by Esquire: http://www.amazon.com/Esquire-The-Handbook-Style-Looking/dp/1588167461/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346863785&sr=8-1&keywords=esquire+men%27s+guide) which has helped him to really identify what are timeless pieces in a wardrobe, how to shop, how to dress, how to pair what with what, etc etc etc. So it got me wondering if such a thing existed for women considering that women's fashion is SO dynamic! And like an answer to that question, this book popped up in the search. After reading other reviews and looking at various other books I settled on this one and I haven't looked back! The author takes a blunt and somewhat entertaining stance on female fashion. She breaks it down by body type and then reviews exactly what to do when it comes to selecting clothing. She goes over some fundamental difficulties and how to overcome them, she goes over tips and strategies from being a professional stylist, and she even breaks it down when it comes to accessories, under-garments, and closet organization. She goes out of her way to not belittle the reader based on size and shape and emphatically repeats that dressing well has very little to do with being a slender model and everything to do with dressing for your body. I also felt comforted by the fact that she repeatedly acknowledges the overwhelm, stress and difficulties in getting started/maintaining a respectable wardrobe - which, for me, helped me to feel like it was doable! To sum up, this book was exactly what I was looking for. If you are starting to build a timeless wardrobe, identify your closet staples, and learn how to dress then this is the book for you. If you already know the fundamentals, then this book might be a bit too rudimentary for you (although I firmly believe you could still get some good tips out of reading it!).
