PERFECT: classic, versatile, badass, comfortable, and well-made
THE BOOTS OF MY DREAMS! I am a huge Frye fan, positively addicted to the timeless style and superior craftsmanship of their boots. I currently have seven pairs...which is really 6 pairs too many because not only are they fairly expensive, but they last forever. One of the things I love about this brand is their consistent sizing across all models; it's such a relief to just be able to order an 8.5 online, in any style, and *know* without a doubt that it will fit (whereas so many other companies play stupid games with their sizing). However, these might just be the last pair of Frye boots I ever buy because--GAME OVER, Veronica wins!!! If there were an official Venn Diagram of "Badass" and "Classy," Veronica Combat boots would be that place in the center. First off, they really do look like the old-school combat boots I used to rock in high school; comfortable and surprisingly lightweight, yet weatherproof and sturdy, the perfect kicks for wearing around the city (because you want to look your best but never know when you might have to put your foot in someone's ass). And as for that classic style, I could weep tears of actual joy that Frye refrained from ruining this perfect ankle boot with a tacky zipper; the lace-up shaft is just the right height to wear with skinny jeans or cropped pants, and they look equally fly with a dress and tights or a skirt and leggings. I have to admit, the stone-wash finish was not my first choice, but 8.5s in regular black seemed to be sold out everywhere so I took a chance and I'm so glad I did! The stone wash looked a little bit splotchy and contrived right out of the box, but they actually look amazing now that the boot itself is broken in more, like they're naturally (and badassly) weathered. Not that these babies needed any breaking in in terms of comfort; they absolutely cradled my foot with a perfect, feels-like-custom-made fit the minute I put them on. I disagree with other reviewers who recommended sizing up because of the stiff toe-box: the very bottom of the toe box rubbed my left pinky a bit, but they loosened up after a day or two of wearing and I never even got a blister. Now I wear them everywhere, all day, everyday: to the office, out on the weekend, even hanging around the house in sweatpants. I love love LOVE these boots and cannot recommend them enough!

Frye Quality But Definitely Small
These are definitely the high quality leather of Frye products, although the variegated color in the photo is not what mine look like. Mine are mostly solid black with a little color rubbed off on the toe. Also, I have always been a 6 1/2 in Frye boots but not in these. I ordered a 7 based on other reviews and I'm glad I did - they are SNUG but fit fine with a thinner sock than I usually wear with boots.

The sol rubber on the front toe part did not match, and one looked longer then the other
It was love at first sight, then they arrived. The rubber was formed differently on one boot making it longer and not matching. My heels came up as I walked. I ware a size 7.5 to 8. So I ordered 8. They are are the smaller size. I did not reorder them after my return. Still waiting on my money return and it's been a month already. I expected they would be inspected before being shipped.

Excellent Quality, Comfort & Style
Order half a size up. I bought these for outdoor use in the rugged Arizona wilderness. Tried them out for the 1st time two weeks ago rock collecting and was very impressed. Am always worried about twisting an ankle so decided military boots would be the best. These are very slim fitting black boots that can also be worn to work. Extremely well made and comfortable with a pair of medium thick socks. I foresee these boots lasting at least ten years. They cleaned up well and I am extremely happy with this purchase. I just purchased a 2nd pair of these combat boots in the pine green color. I want one pair in the black to wear to work and a 2nd pair for hiking in the AZ Mountains and wilderness. I absolutely love these boots. Thank you Frye for making these exceptionally high quality boots. The break in time was less than one day of wear. Extremely comfortable!! My friends and colleagues love these boots as well. A great investment in footwear comfort and protection for my extremely delicate feet!! Thank You!!! ❤🧡💛 Just ordered a 3rd pair in the cream color. Saw they were 50% off and had to buy!!

These boots run 1/2 too small. :(
Be careful when you re-order! I decided to check my replacement order for these boots in Cubana leather. My regular size in Frye boots is 8M, so that’s the size I ordered. These boots run about 1/2 size too small. I processed my return, but re-ordered a size up, and noticed that another size 8 was on the way, instead of the 8.5M I had re-ordered. I will wait until I drop these off today before I try to reorder again. They are beautiful boots!

Hard to put on and tiny toe box
These are gorgeous boots! I so wanted to love them, but they just didn't work for me. 1. They were super hard to put on. I practically had to unlace them to get my foot in them. 2. Once my foot was in, my toes were really squished. I don't have a wide foot, but this toe-box seems really narrow to me.

Old School boots … they will stretch to a custom fit.
I disagree with ordering a size up… I would say true to size.:: I am a 9 and the 9 is the correct length, my toes are happy. A size up would definitely look weird so only order a size up if you intend to exclusively wear thick heavy socks. For regular feet these will initially feel impossibly tight and the break in will take some time. If you run wide it might not be worth it to you. These are not going to be comfy out of the box…they are old school leather boots. I have a narrow heel and average width at toes. It took me three evenings to break them in. I used slightly thicker socks each evening to gradually stretch them out and WOW it was extremely uncomfortable, sometimes painful. When they felt more comfortable I wore them to a large grocery store so I was guaranteed lots of walking. If you devote yourself to gradually breaking them in you will be rewarded with custom fit boots. My favorite boots.
