Longer ray5 5W laser engraver I’ve been using the Longer Ray5 5W laser engraver for several weeks and overall, I’m super excited about the new addition to my art studio! The price point on this is why I didn’t buy the 10w model. My plans consist of engraving, various materials, but not necessarily needing to do any cutting. Now that I’m learning more and it was not super hard to get the hang of, I sometimes wonder if I should have gotten a larger laser, but knowing it’s 3x the price, I don’t know that a few cuts is really worth that for me right now. I’ve been watching YouTube videos to learn the software and I say that is a must! If you have any experience using Cricut Deaign Studio, or using a 3-d printer, you will see the similarities here. I have been nothing but impressed with the high-quality burn-ins that this laser does! I have little design & computer + machine experience, but there are tons of intricacies that I have yet to uncover. The work area is pretty big at 400mm x 400mm & is perfect for a range of projects. Better yet, the quality of the engraving is IMPRESSIVE, especially for its price point! Assembly and setup are straightforward. Before running the laser, unless you are familiar with diode lasers and how they operate, I highly suggest searching for YouTube videos with step-by-step guides on software configuration & use, homing the laser, and pre-setting your bed size to match the workspace. It produces some very fine detail & if you enter the right power % and mm/minute ratios, you won’t have any burning, just extremely professional engraving results. I was extra excited to find that by adjusting the speed & power % I could get blue, gold, and a brownish hue on stainless steel engraving! That in particular was my favorite surprise with this!! I just expected to have some letters or designs without accents like color, so you can imagine all the pieces of metal I used this on 😀 If you get stuck or the laser doesn’t respond, just restart the device. If you’re running computer software & the machine freezes, just restart the laser machine & the software program. One more thing that is super useful is that it connects to the internet through wi-fi. Having this as an option means that I can drop files directly to the memory card while it is inside the machine, vs loading to the card, then carrying the card to my laser, and the back and forth. In addition, you can use the touch screen on the machine to open files and print directly from the touch screen without using a computer to speak to it. Best Advice I Have: Make sure that you to a laser burn test for every new type of material you want to introduce into your repertoire. That’s how I learned about the colors that can be achieved with engraving stainless steel. ***Do NOT forget your safety glasses 🥽‼️ This is great & I have no regrets …. I’m going to add a small air pump to help keep the heat and smoke from damaging the work surfaces on more intricate designs. Again, just hop on google and look for add-ons! I’ve tried engraving on a wood pad so far, and the results were clean and precise — better than I expected for a 5W laser. I haven’t tested the cutting function yet, but I’m planning to try it on acrylic soon. The 3.5" touchscreen and offline functionality are convenient features that add to the overall ease of use. One area for improvement would be including more detailed safety guidelines in the documentation, especially for beginners. Still, this is a solid product for hobbyists or DIY users, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get started with laser engraving and light cutting.

Excellent Performance, Power, and Value I’ve been extremely impressed with the Longer Ray5 10-Watt Laser Engraver. Setup was straightforward, and it was up and running quickly with clear instructions and solid build quality right out of the box. The 10W laser has plenty of power for engraving and cutting—clean, sharp details on wood, leather, slate, coated metals, and even darker acrylics. The engraving accuracy is outstanding, with smooth lines and consistent depth. It handles detailed images and text beautifully, and the speed is great compared to other machines in this price range. The unit was fairly easy to assemble. If you are very familiar with nuts, bolts, allen wrenches and spacers, construction should not be very difficult. Care does need to be taken to be sure the frame is very square. Quality of materials and all preassembled components was excellent. I ran into some problems when I was first starting to use the engraver. Initial images were not lined up properly. I felt that parts of both the X and Y axis we’re not moving smoothly. I could not find the answer in documents online so I called support. This turned out to be an incredibly positive experience. I was able to talk to a human being immediately. She listened to my story and said she was confident there was an easy fix. She sent me a video link that clearly showed how to adjust the tight rollers and that problem was fixed. I was still having problems with image quality, so I reached out to support once again. This time was by email. I received a very rapid response, less than 24 hours. Once again this contained a link to a video. Those instructions completely fixed the problem. I wish some of these video links were included in the original documentation. That being said, contacting support was very easy and their advice was spot on accurate. I could have spent a lot of time wading through information that was not helpful. I am completely happy with the performance of this product. I feel that it is a great value for this price.

They work amazingly!! This is my 3rd and 4th laser. I used my first 2 for almost 2 years and I ran them almost not stop! The customer service is by far the best I have ever had! The machine is very durable and at 10w the perfect size! I can etch in glass, acrylic and wood with absolutely no problems at all. And can cut wood and acrylic with ease! I will definitely be buying more Longer Ray5 10w lasers in the future, may even try the 20w version to see what else I can do with them. I would highly recommend Longer for all your laser needs!!!

FINALLY!! This is the THIRD laser I’ve bought in 2 weeks and it actually connects to the computer and works fine with both laserGBRL and Lightburn. Etches/engraved steel and glass with no issue and very clean. The laser itself is definitely what it says and is quite powerful. It does a really nice, detailed engraving of photos too! I am an absolute beginner i.e (just taught myself to use lightburn like 2 days ago) and I was happy with the ease of use and assembly. Instructions are pretty ehh but whatever.. use your brain and you’ll be ok, hopefully. Cons: There are no physical limit switches so be careful and take your time to make sure you place your file correctly. Don’t trust lightburn to follow your input of the laser dimensions. Doesn’t come with a honeycomb panel so you’ll have to buy one or put down a piece of sheet metal like I did. Anyhow.. nice powerful laser for the money in my opinion!
