Abigail (2024) - Collector's Edition [DVD]

I'm a Horror Comedy film lover! I think they should make more Horror Comedy movies. I highly recommend this shining example of plot twists, a bit of gore, solid unaliving scenes and most of all, dark humor throughout!

Abigail is a fantastic and very well done horror and comedy film. Unique Vampire lore mixed with a lot fun and badass scenes. All the actors ans actresses were perfect for their roles, especially Alisha Weir as Abigail. Top 3 favorite vampire movies. Also Abigail is now in my top 3 favorite vampires.

Spoilers - a really great spin on an old time legend of horror .. the vampire In my opinion ; this film was written well . The actors and actresses carried their roles out to the point you could kinda believe they could be thematic character . The sets were good and costumes worked they were not overdone to the “T” for the character yet simple and the house is brilliant. It is an amazing plot with wonderful twists like yes would a vampire actually be capable of being a good loving parent ?? And to a vampire child who could do absolutely anything; would you need to be around so much to protect them ? Let alone having your child be your well assassin…. I like the little jokes here and there during the action ;the jokes do not take away from the feel like it does in some movies and they are written and carried out well. A good cast or well knows and some maybe you haven’t seen. The action is good . It doesn’t look faked or staged . The gore may be alot for some ;there will be blood , maybe worse ,vampires and all . Not a kid “twilight” vampire movie , a teen movie and up I would say . To be able to appreciate the plot , the intensity , the loyalty and the betrayal. And to not have a young one up with nightmares lol. I really like this one . I have seen almost every vampire movie made( even foreign) and this is definitely one of my newer release favorites . It will make you feel sorry for a young vampire at times and want to stake her at others , the young actress did her part well . As you root for the kidnappers to love you are saying omg am I really rooting for them to get out of this unscathed ? It makes you think what you maybe wouldn’t have before about vampires , family , connections between people , and loyalty to those you love , this has it all .It will make u think what would you do in one of their shoes ??? From the beginning to the end I was engaged and glad I was watching it .I feel it is a must own movie . The end is a great idea ,I loved it . I feel soo bad the Mr. Cloud is longer with us to enjoy the applause and cheer he deserves for his part in this film .

Great movie! Amazing acting!

Who doesn't like horror-comedy? Who doesn't love watching bad people getting theirs via some vaguely explained vengeance plot? Who doesn't love listening to Black Swan playing on a warped record because the movie couldn't afford anything license? If you answered yes to all of those, seek professional help. Oh, and watch Abigail. Okay, good stuff first. Alisha Weir (Matilda the Musical) carries this movie through every bloody frame as a monster trapped in a child's body and milks every scene she gets with a dedicated weirdness. Melissa Barrera (Scream VI) shows she can act like an adult in a horror movie and gives me hope her career might just survive her Twitter feed. And Dan Stevens plays the perfect blend of slimy, competent and easy to agree with so well that you'll find yourself agreeing with his actions even while anxiously awaiting the moment he finally gets his. Had this been more along the lines of an unhappily married couple finding their way into the worst honeymoon ever, it would have been perfect with the strength of this cast alone. Unfortunately, like always in these kind of vague revenge movies, the script shows its hand a little to eagerly and also feels a little too top heavy for its mostly simple p!ot. Kevin Durand's portrayal of a muscle head with the IQ of a house plant is funny for a whopping ten minutes before it grates on the nerves. Angus Cloud (in his final role) and William Catlett leave the movie so quickly that it feels like the movie over cast and had to cut bodies before explaining why they were even there (Seriously, WHY were they even there?). Even Kathryn Newton, known for quirky but memorable roles, feels too much like an add-on. There are bones of a perfect movie here. It just gets buried by an inability to explain itself. Verdict time: the movie is still a fun, wacky runaway train of cheap-but-effective scares and some decently made set pieces that are worth the price I paid for the rental ($6.99). Had this still been stuck on the early release price ($19.99), it would have felt like a bigger ripoff than Ghostbusters Frozen Kingdom. My advice: rent it during the discount weeks or wait a few months to find it at a more wallet-friendly price. Watching a ballerina vampire chase a fully-grown man down a hallway while he screams the terror of a little girl is worth more on a discount.

This movie is the bomb ,suspenseful, great story plot, lots of twists and turd ,with a interesting satisfying ending, got. Just enough gore to make it good, and we have watched multiple times

Helmed by the directing duo Radio Silence (Ready or Not), the film leans heavily into stylish action, cartoonish over-the-top gore, and sharp comedic timing from a stellar ensemble cast featuring Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, and a phenomenal breakout turn by Alisha Weir. While the plot beats are largely predictable, it delivers a fast-paced, high-energy ride that serves up pure, guilt-free popcorn horror entertainment.

Bought as a gift for my sister as she enjoyed it when we saw it. It includes her 2 favorite things, Vampires and Ballerinas! A very fun movie, great scenes and funny gore, it's so over the top it's not scary. Enjoyable with every watch and sure to become a fast favorite if it isn't already!
