Has to be very close to wi fi router to connect. Not feasible if you are using the unit for a basement water heater!!!

Excellent Sensor that Works With Alexa
This water sensor was easy to set up (by my water heater) then configure in the SmartLife app. (A note about Tuya and SmartLife devices. I have many of these devices and use SmartLife exclusively. Any device that lists only Tuya will also work with SmartLife). Set up the SmartLife Alexa skill and the device is now linked to Alex.As for reliability, this water sensor works perfectly. Over the last couple of weeks I dampened the area by the sensor and the water was always detected.

Great device
Very cool device and great detector. Got this item to be used in our basement so we can detect water leaks or flood water coming in from heavy rains. So far has worked great, I tested spilling water to check if it work, and it really worked great.

Great Stand Alone But Poor Integration
This is a small, battery powered (2 AAA) liquid sensor. (While water is the most typical application, the device is sensitive enough to detect other liquids that are less conductive). It works extremely well in stand-alone mode. Just put batteries in and the built-in alarm will sound without any app or technology integration. Inside near the bottom of the battery compartment is a very tiny slide switch that sets whether the unit alarms when liquids are present (labeled as L mode) or when water is absent (labeled as H mode).Caution in that my unit was delivered from the factory in H mode, and I needed to slide the switch to the L mode in order to get it to operate as a leak detector.Primary smartphone integration is provided by installing the Smart Life or Tuya Smart app. (They are identical in operation so either app can be used.)Like a lot of IOT devices, this one only supports 2.4G band, so make sure your router can communicate this way. You must switch your phone into 2.4G network mode in order to discover and configure the device. Afterwards the phone can be placed back on the 5G network.Responsiveness is excellent in the app. There is both an audio alarm and a notification and a vibration when the device is triggered. There is also notification for when the alarm condition is cleared (such as monitoring a basement that only gets wet occasionally and self-dries).3rd party integration is non-existent. While many Tuya based devices claim Google and Alexa integration, in this case the integration is very poor. Here is what I found:Google: Device shows up but the only parameter shown is battery life. No alarm state or history is available with google. You can't ask google to report or display the current state of the alarm.Alexa: Device shows up as a switch. If the alarm is currently triggered then the switch shows as open, if the alarm is not triggered then the switch shows as closed. Routines for this device do not run. You can not ask Alexa for the current device state, you must use the Alexa app. When used stand-alone or with the Smart Life app, performance and functionality are very good. While I am not sure how long the AAA batteries will last, there is a notification setting in the app for battery life and the current battery level is also shown in the app.Device dimensions are accurate. The built-in alarm is very loud (volume is app controllable). I would recommend this product as long as 3rd party integration is not needed.
