Retired, wealthy sea Captain James McKay arrives in the vast expanse of the West to marry fiancée Pat Terrill. McKay is a man whose values and approach to life are a mystery to the ranchers and ranch foreman Steve Leech takes an immediate dislike to him. Pat is spoiled, selfish and controlled by her wealthy father, Major Henry Terrill. The Major is involved in a ruthless land war, over watering rights for cattle, with a rough hewn clan led by Rufus Hannassey. The land in question is owned by Julie Maragon and both Terrill and Hannassey want it.

Very, very well made film by William Wyler starring Gregory Peck.
Absolutely wonderful film in a very a very beautiful panoramic settings. Gregory Peck as usual has made a stellar performance.

Finally watching the most anticipated western from William Wyler on Blu Ray was exhilarating. What instantly worked was the restoration marvel done by MGM studio that becomes your moment of truth right from the commencement of the film. The picture has a rich warm feel with absolutely delightful clarity of outdoor images. The skin tones also come out well, considering the period and make up. The night shots although few held decent black levels in the frames.The audio presented in DTS-HD-Master 2.0 channel did good justice to the action packed moving drama. Good clarity during Gunshots and coach and horse chases. Over all a fantastic rendition on Blu Ray for a movie that has great ensemble of cast and a good length of close to 3 hrs. A must have for those holding classic movies collection, more from the perspective of remarkable Clarity in 1080p picture and High def sound.

A great western with an excellent cast and well well enacted.

BIG MOVIE
This is a truly extraordinary movie from 1958. Gregory Peck is simply stunning as Jim,the apparent peaceloving simplemen who wants to end confrontation between two warring sides.The bluray restoration is good. Thank you Amazon for bringing the high definition print of BIG COUNTRY to India. This movie is a must watch in 1080 pixels.
