Perfect for schoolwork, college assignments, and working from home when I need it!
As someone who juggles college assignments, a busy kid in school, and random work-from-home days, this HP DeskJet 4227e has honestly become one of my most-used home essentials. Instruction Quality: Setup was SO simple. The HP Smart app walks you through everything — no guessing, no frustration, just plug it in and follow the steps. Print Speed: For our everyday needs, the speed is great. It prints my study guides and my son’s worksheets quickly without slowing either of us down. Connectivity: Zero issues here. It connected to Wi-Fi instantly and stays connected. No random disconnects or having to redo setup. Wireless Connectivity: This has been a game changer. I can print straight from my phone or laptop, and my son prints from his tablet. No cords. No drama. Print Quality: The prints come out clean, sharp, and consistent — whether it’s his school projects or my college assignments. Black and color both look great. Ink Capacity: Surprisingly good! We print pretty regularly, and the ink lasts longer than I expected. I also love that the app shows the ink levels so I’m never caught off guard. Overall, this little printer fits perfectly in our home. It’s compact, reliable, and just easy. If you’re a parent, a student, or someone who needs a no-stress printer for everyday life, this one is a solid pick. I definitely recommend it.

DO NOT BUY - Worst Purchase of 2024 By Far
I wish I could return this godawful printer. I cannot wait until I purchase its replacement and can take this abomination to an abandoned field and beat it to bits with a bat. Yes, it is cheap, but it is worth far less than what I paid for it. This is my first time using an at-home printer in awhile, and it is hands down the worst printer I have ever used. I have to repeatedly contact HP because the printer refuses to connect to Wifi when it or the Wifi is rebooted. HP's Printer Portal is a JOKE and does nothing except confirm that the printer is offline. If the printer gets disconnected for any reason, you have to call HP to get it reconnected to Wifi since the Printer Portal does not provide options for connecting it. You also cannot stop the printer from performing a print job, even if you cancel said job from the queue, meaning you have to choose between wasting ink or unplugging the printer and contacting HP Customer Service to get it reconnected. The UX experience gets a 0 out of 5, and while the printer does work once it is properly set up (which is near impossible to do on your own if you do not have an technology background), it takes about 5-10 minutes just to get connected to HP Customer Service any time you have an issue (which, in theory, should be able to be addressed in their online portal, but which, in practice, is impossible to resolve without professional assistance). Add another 5 minutes while they confirm everything about you save whether you are an organ donor. HP Customer Service has also made me carry my printer to different locations in my house because of how hard it is to get it connected to the internet (connectivity is not an issue for any other electronic device I own). This printer now sits within six inches of my router, and still it cannot reconnect to Wifi if anything disrupts its connection. I got this printer so I could quickly print drafts of my writing and do handwritten revisions. I have pretty much given up on using it after only a month of it being set up given the many issues I've encountered in such a short time. HP is actively creating waste in the world by putting out such bad products, and I will not be purchasing any other HP product, printer or otherwise, ever again.

Head's Up About Ink
I bought this printer for my stationery business. I have three others, but I needed one to specifically print on #10 business envelopes. This printer does that well, but it has a few cons. It can only accept 6 envelopes at a time or images become misaligned. That is easy to handle, but a bit of a pain for large stationery orders I print. Luckily, it prints quickly so I can stand nearby and just switch out sets of six envelopes. The second con is that is suddenly stopped accepting anything but HP ink. This wasn't a problem until the second time I replaced ink cartridges. After researching, the firmware seems to block anything that is not HP brand even if it is compatible. Just a head's up for anyone looking to save money buying ink elsewhere. This is listed in the description and it is my fault for not reading it all the way through to the bottom. I am going to keep this printer and use it until it gives out on me, but I think I will be looking for a different brand to replace it when the time comes.

Great Printer So far!
This was somewhat easy to set up but SO far so GOOD!!!! I set this up on my cell phone and downloaded the app. I'm using this as a wireless printer and now I can print from my phone:) It's the perfect size for my office space. I did however decline the HP instant ink setup. The last thing I need is another auto-send product if I don't need it. Still in early use so I will send a follow up comment once I've used this for a few months.

Reliable All-in-One Printer with Minor Drawbacks
I've been using the HP DeskJet 4255e for a few months now, and it's a solid performer for home use. Here's my take on it: Pros: Versatility: This printer does it all – print, scan, copy, and even fax. It's a great all-in-one solution for home offices or households with multiple users. Wireless Connectivity: Setting up the wireless connection was a breeze, and it stays reliably connected. I can print from my phone or computer without any hassle. Having that feature alone makes the cost worth it for me. Print Quality: The print quality is good for everyday tasks like printing documents, photos, and even some graphics. The colors are vibrant, and the text is sharp. My wife uses the prints for her CRICUT designs and they look amazing. Compact Design: It's compact and doesn't take up too much space, which is perfect for smaller home offices or apartments. HP Instant Ink: The included 3 months of HP Instant Ink is a nice touch. It saves me the hassle of running out of ink unexpectedly, and the subscription is affordable. Cons: Noise Level: The printer can be a bit noisy, especially during multi-page printing or scanning. It's not deafening, but it's noticeable. At the end of the day, this is a minor issue.... it's a printer. Cost of Ink: While the HP Instant Ink subscription is convenient, the cost of ink can add up if you print frequently. It's something to keep in mind if you're a heavy user. Also, be aware the free color ink included does not actually work if you don't sign up for the HP service. So be sure to buy color ink separately if you don't want to pay for a subscription. Speed: The print speed is decent, but it's not the fastest. For large print jobs, it might take a bit longer than some higher-end models. Overall, the HP DeskJet 4255e is a reliable and versatile all-in-one printer that's well-suited for home use. It offers good print quality and wireless connectivity but be mindful of the noise level and ink costs if you're a heavy user.

⚠️ READ THIS BEFORE BUYING ⚠️
Don’t be fooled by the good reviews. The printer itself is mediocre and comes with the expected issues that make a printer a printer. Don’t be surprised by having to restart the machine every time you need to print. The BIGGEST ISSUE is that Instant Ink is a con service. At first it leads you to believe that you get free ink for 3 months. When 3 months go by- obviously outside of the return window- then you realize that you are forced to keep the subscription in order to continue to use the printer and the ink cartridges are “leased” not owned. You pay a set price based on the amount you print from 10 pages a month ($2.78 per month) to 1500 pages a month ($84.98 per month) and your pages rollover to the next month but that’s capped at 30 pages for the $2.78 per month. If you go over the page amount, it makes you pay by page. I don’t know how much that is. You can buy regular printer ink instead of Instant Ink to use the printer but that’s another purchase on top of what you already spent. They sent me ink cartridges I can’t even use unless I keep the subscription. The day your subscription ends, if you still have the Instant Ink cartridges in the machine, you will not be able to use the printer. For me, it’s not worth keeping the subscription because I don’t print often enough so I’ll be forced to buy different ink cartridges and figure out how to dispose of these leased cartridges because that’s now my responsibility. Wasteful. Make sure you understand the Instant Ink stipulation before you purchase this.
