What a great book to dive deep into yours or others opportunities of personal growth. Use it or pass it along and share. Every leader should own a copy and use it for annual performance reviews and coaching sessions.

Prefer the former 5th Edition
Just bought the 6th edition after having used the 4th and 5th editions. Quite a big revamp from prior edition. Not sure what I think yet. I've compared very closely and it appears that Korn Ferry decided to simplify the model thereby reducing the number of competencies and categories. They also collapsed them into broader categories that are probably more explainable than in the 5th edition. In looking at those they kept and those they didn't. I suggest that 5th Edition is a better tool for professional individual contributors and leaders from supervisor up through executive level. The 6th edition uses competencies (some similar) that are broader and would be better targeted at the executive level. The type size of the font larger in the 6th yet, the quality of the priinting makes it harder to read than the more crisp type on the previous edition. I'm torn. I actually like the descriptors better in the older 5th edition. It also seems like they don't provide any of the reading suggestions in the back of each competency section. I also prefer that in the former 5th edition there are more specific competencies that aren't addressed in the 6th edition that are very useful. I suppose an organization could use the 6th overall but as a leader, coach, and, mentor I really like the number of competencies available in the 5th edition. Maybe they can strike just the write balance in the 7th edition.

Excellent reference and guidance for managers.
Short on words while preparing performance reviews or pinpointing zreas of excellence or development? This is the best publication I've found. Developmental experiences are listed for consideration. Overuse of a particular strengths are also discussed as well.

This book is great! It really helps leaders understand and discuss competencies. When the book arrived, the text was a little blurry but I contacted the seller who rectified the situation ASAP. Great customer service!
