It tastes like it’s not even decaf
For a while, I was ordering Kona decaf from a place in Hawaii. Recently, their decaffeination vendor went out of business, so they had to switch to a new one. After the switch, the quality of the decaf degraded significantly, and I had to find an alternative. I searched on Amazon and found a company in New Jersey called Direct Coffee Company. I ordered their decaf espresso, and it tastes really good. I prefer the CO2 decaffeination process, which this seems to be, and the flavor is great. I highly recommend it if you like a very dark, oily roast. I'm also going to try their other offerings, like the Colombian CO2 decaf light roast

Great tasing, good price, fresh, but chemical decaffeination
I have been using this in my espresso machine for about six months now. I like a dark roast for espresso, I don't want a lot of caffeine, but I like my morning coffee. I have my own grinder for freshness. This makes a great tasting cup of dark espresso. It is not too acidic, has a rich but not biting flavor sort of chocolaty, and is 40% or more cheaper than similar quality dark roast decaf coffee beans locally. Some are concerned about minute chemical residues from the decaffination process, and prefer and water-decaf coffee. However I figure they wash out the chemical pretty well and this has very little caffeine compared to most decaf (which can have up to 30% the normal caffeine level). Also note that some "water process" decaf coffee also uses chemicals. Only the "Swiss water" process does not use any chemicals and that is not that common. CO2 process is the safest. I would guess if a company used Swiss water or C02 process decaf that they would say so in big letters, because they do not use any toxic chemicals. This same company makes a CO2 process decaf espresso roast which is 10% less expensive, and is a darker roast than French but lighter than Italian. Best decaf period
Almost all of the whole-bean decaf sold are dark roasts even if they say medium or light roast. In addition, Swiss Water Method removes most of the flavor and natural oils of the bean. The CO2 decaf method is superior in maintaining the flavor and removes more caffeine. Is more expensive to produce than SWM which is soaking in water and then re-combining the oils to re-introduce the flavor. This brand is the best quality, best tasting decaf beans I can find. I spent $$$ trying all in the market online and offline. With the exception of Illi Italian decaf beans, all the rest went to to trash because they tasted like burnt cigarette ashes. These coffee beans make rich, creamy smooth tasting coffee. If you are hesitant to buy 5 lbs , they also sell 1 lbs, look around to find it.

NEW COFFEE IS EXPIRED - do not buy
No roasted on date - just an expiry date about a year from now. Name due date as a bag I bought 1.5 months ago. So brand new bag is basically already past its prime. Guess their coffee is sitting in warehouses rotting. Great work. If I get a response from the manufacturer, I’ll change this review.
