We lose power at our house often. Usually not for long but it is useful to have a small portable light like this Aivica 5000 Large Capacity Solar Hand Crank Flashlight around to provide general lamp light. I really like that this can be used to charge other portable electronic devices in a pinch, although I think a small portable battery is a better charging/power option. I have to do some work in a dark corner of my attic in the near future and I will use this because it is so light weight that I can clip it onto my belt. The seller's photos represent the product very well.Since it is advertised as a USB charger, the one issue that I have with it is that there is no way to tell how charged its it because there is no indicator. All of my portable charger batteries have this feature. Because there is no way to know how full the internal battery is, I instead tried charging it using the different charging methods from a completely dead battery state then turned on both the main light and flash light and saw how long it operated.Crank handle charging method: The crank handle is relatively easy to use and much quieter than an old light like this that I have. I have arthritis in my hands and while several cranks don't bother me at all, I had a hard time maintaining 3 revolutions every two seconds for my testing. I only managed 4 min and didn't get a lick of power out of either of the lights. This charging method is not feasible for my old hands.Solar charging method: I set the lamp out in direct sunlight for 10 hours. With the lamp and flashlight on at the same time, it provided light for approximately 8 hours.USB input charging method: This is the most time-efficient way of charging. When it is plugged in and charging, the red light blinks--something I didn't see while it was solar charging. I forget to check on it so I missed how long it took to get from fully dead to fully charged but it was more than 2 hrs and less than 5hrs. The light did turn a steady red so this is the only way to know the battery is completely full. With the lamp and flashlight on, at the 12 hour point, the lights were dim but still provided light.Part of me wishes this also had a bluetooth speaker to make it truly multifunctional.

Took this on our backpacking trip and it was perfect to have. I love that it is solar powered, but also has a hand crank. Used it to charge my mobile phone. We have only used it the one time, but it is great quality and I can see it lasting for years.

I love this!! As a campers and outdoorsy person, this is perfect! It charged really fast in the sunlight! And it also winds well too! The light is extremely bright on it!
