The media could not be loaded. It’s perfect, the babies are all doing great. The temperature control is perfect. No complaints! Has great ways to vent, but to keep the babies warm the top vent works perfectly fine.

I purchased this as a brooder for newly hatched chicks. It comes with a double bulb corded heat lamp system that is inserted through pre-drilled holes in the top. They have plastic threaded collars to hold the socket and bulbs in place. Within 15 minutes the box top was so hot it couldn’t be touched with bare hands. I disassembled and reassembled in case I had made a mistake, but I didn’t. (It’s really impossible to put together wrong, wouldn’t fit any other way). Same result. Out of curiosity I checked the interior temp with a thermometer….way way too hot, would have killed chicks.The ONLY reason I’m giving this a star was because I ended up using the box, without the top, and adding a red safety chick light of my own.Be aware, this is not big enough for more than six chicks and they outgrew it within two weeks. Without the top the chicks were able to jump out by the time they were a week old.In hindsight, this would be a better box for something like newborn orphaned bottle fed kittens/small breed puppies or rescue animals on a heat mat. The doors on the sides would be idea for that.

I wanted to like this. I bought a larger one for chickens and a smaller one for quail. So far the smaller one works okay. The bigger one has an issue with humidity. Maybe my turkey poults are just dumb and keep spilling their water, but the box is a humidity trap and doesn’t ventilate well enough. The sides and top get covered in humidity and then everything in the box including my chicks end up wet. Improvements needed before I’ll try it again.

I have been raising chickens for years. This is a great brooder box and it’s easy to assemble and clean. I wouldn’t put more than 4 chicks in it because it is small. The only concern I have is with the heating lamps. Using 2 lamps no matter how low the temperature dial is turned is a bit too hot for them and they have no area to cool down if needed. I am only using 1 of the lamps and it regulates the temp better but I’m going to replace the heating lights with a better safer heating unit. In all this is a great little box for a small started flock.

It works great. Keeps chicks warm and it is snake proof. That last one is very important where I live. Bull snakes will kill and eat chicks.

Baby chicks love it. But will out grow in about 2 weeks.

Worst brooder box ever. I have lost so many quail chicks using this. It's supper easy to assemble but the problem is there is not enough air ventilation. I'll check babies in the morning, by afternoon it's soppy wet and dead babies everywhere
