Chapter 19 is just 👌. As always the plot and pacing is good, but at the end of this volume there is progress in their relationship. This ship will sail 😆.

This volume was engaging from start to finish. It was interesting reading how things panned out and certainly had plenty of tidbits that should prove very interesting when we see their further progression. Either way the next one should hopefully prove to carry on the pattern so far maintained.

This series is really good with the next better than the last with a great mystery along with intrigue and an interesting imperial court drama. The characters are wonderful as always I really love Maomao she is interesting and very different from many others around her she is a bit eccentric never a dull moment with her around. A secret about Jinshi was revealed although Maomao didn't allow him to really tell her what he wanted to. The plot was interesting Maomao is back in the rear palace to be the poison tester for the consort that happens to be pregnant this fact is hidden there are a few interesting mysteries one about an illness that uncovers a poisoning attempt and another about the previous emperor and his terrible proclivities and what caused his death the last being a certain someone is not what he seems looking forward to reading more soon.

Can't wait for the rest of the books and anime.

There's a lot I enjoy with this series. Primarily is how so many aspects are slice-of-life, with some scenes being one-off activities, yet others develop into pieces of the larger whole. There are multiple layers of actions going on. And while Maomao is just being herself and working with what she has, the story progresses through time. Basically, it's not just set in one place and episodic. Life moves on, the story progresses, everyone develops. It's an ever evolving aspect. Really good read.

Great for anyone looking for adventure and romantic tension. I’m am looking forward to the next volume. I have been trying to pace myself but will be binge reading!

I think compared to the previous ones, this is a little slower to start. But obviously still really good. The ending of this however makes the fact it was bit slow insignificant in my opinion. 💜
