About as basic as you can get.
We got this as part of a small “go kit”. I don’t expect to need it (I hope I won’t), but I wanted something just in case. It’s well packaged and relatively small. One small complaint is that I wish it were a square or rectangle so it would pack better with other things in my kit. It only has a limited number of things, so consider carefully what you need and what you don’t.In my case, I really wanted something that I could keep in the car. Unfortunately, we live in a climate where the winters can get very cold. As a result, I would have liked to have perhaps seen water purification tablets instead of packed water. I didn’t test it, but I worry about the pack of purified water freezing in cold weather. I also would have liked to have seen some Band-Aids or disinfectant.Overall, this is pretty basic. It doesn’t come with a hefty price tag, so it might be a good value for some. As a standalone kit, however, I would think one may want something a bit more robust. I will be keeping it with my other stuff, but I don’t think I would buy another one. I will probably spend a bit more money and get something that checks more boxes.

Great!
All of the components are present. This is a handy little kit. Certainly not all-inclusive, but a great way to get started with the basics! The tube isn't terribly sturdy, so if you are keeping it in a backpack or something where it will be jostled frequently, I would probably reinforce it or transfer to a sturdy container. The 1st aid guide is excellent!

Grateful to not have used it yet
The size of this makes it a perfect essential for your emergency kits whether it be at home or on the go. Pouches are very compact. You can take it out of the plastic sleeve and make it more compact by putting all the contents in another bag. We haven’t opened it yet but it’s an added item to our go kits. We are definitely going to purchase multiple for our family so we each can have one or two per person and the value of it makes it so worth it.

Get inspired by this kit, but make your own
At first I was inclined to be generous toward this kit. I mean - it is better to have SOMETHING than to have NOTHING, and sadly most people have nothing. So even though this has just the barest of bare minimums I thought - why not encourage people to at least START?But the more I inspected the kit, the more irritated I became. First of all, I ordered and received this in April of 2024. I see that the water was packaged in 2020. Where has it BEEN all this time? Why was it not included in this kid until FOUR YEARS after it was packaged? Could they really not find water that had a later expiration date? It is bad enough to have water in a soft-sided container that can puncture and spill in a true crisis. But to have rapidly outdated water? I mean really - I don't think packaged water actually goes BAD. It's just not a good look to sell a product for emergencies that will expire less than a year after I bought it. It made me wonder whether repackaging the water was the real purpose of this kit, so as to find a way to sell it.And then I inspected the mask. In the photos it is shown as being individually wrapped, and thus at least somewhat sanitary. In reality it is just a loose mask, and who knows who or what has been touching the thing that will touch my nose and mouth. There's no way to keep it clean before use. And once you take it out of the package, it is NOT going back in there. I tried multiple times and could not get it back in. Not that I would want to because - ick. I recommend carrying an individually wrapped N-95 in your emergency kit; it is far more effective against smoke and other particulates like you might encounter in a true emergency. Finally I read the instructions on the inside. Which were basically an ad to go to the Red Cross store and buy more stuff.Overall this kit can serve as inspiration for having "something rather than nothing". Definitely have water, a light source, a whistle (so people can find you - much less energy intensive and louder than yelling), and a source of warmth in your home, your office, and your car. But you can do that far less expensively and more effectively on your own. I recommend using a hard-sided water container, like a metal canteen, that won't puncture and leak if there is an earthquake, tornado, or similar emergency. Water is just too critical.

NOT ALL THE BARE NECESSITIES INCLUDED FOR SUCH A HIGH PRICE
This kit arrived quickly and is a great idea. It comes with a glow stick, face mask, 4.227 ounce pouch of water, a whistle, and an emergency Mylar blanket. It's a great idea for a go bag or backpack, and the items are of good quality. We were really surprised that a roll of Smarties, an emergency food bar (some last up to 5 years unopened), Lifesavers or some other carbohydrate source was not included, especially given the small size of such an item. The water pouch is a nice touch, but at only about 1/2 cup of liquid it leaves a bit to be desired. A Band Aid or two plus a sanitizing wipe could also be beneficial and would take up minimal space. If this item were in an inexpensive pouch, rather than the more rigid bulky tube, the food item, bandage and sanitizing wipe could be added, and the water pouch could be increased to an 8 ounce serving. These would all provide a very well-rounded emergency quick start kit.Still a nice emergency essential to have on hand, but it is more in line with a price point under $10 without all the essentials.

Won't use until needed
Every household should have something like this at a minimum in case of any type of emergency! This is perfect, as it comes with pouched water, whistle, mask, emergency blanket and light stick. I do recommend adding a small flashlight to this kit, as the light stick seems to be a snap and glow stick, so I'm not sure how much light it will give off or for how long. It all comes in a small, sturdy, plastic tube that can be placed in a car, your house, or your office. Moms could even carrying this in a diaper bag.I also added 2 protein bars as a food source in case I got trapped for a few hours, I wouldn't have to be worried about being hungry.
