Right out of the package the pens were very nice to look at. Had a clean, modern appearance. My wife immediately noticed them and asked me for one. She loved how they write. Coworker did the same when he noticed me writing with one. They do write very smoothly. Good drying time and no smear. However, reason for the three stars is that one of them did leak the very first time I used it. It seemed like the barrel was either broken or feeding too much ink and it was unusable. The other pens seem to be working okay
