Amazingly raw and honest!!
The level of depth and honestly in this book is unmatched. Love her as a Spice Girl and even more now as she advocates for domestic violence to stop. This book will help people recognize the signs and not feel so alone because this type of relationship can happen to anybody. Such an amazing book. Great job Mel! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

I could not put it down!!!
This is a must-read if you’re a fan of celeb autobiographies. Melanie Brown went through A HORRENDOUS time of it with her narcissistically abusive ex Stephen, who sounds more sociopathic to me. I hope she wins the court battles over Madison. The extreme abuse she endured, her finances in tatters (these men often bleed their women dry), the gaslighting and control he had over her … it’s an important book to read. Women (and men) are more aware of abusive relationships and red flags, but it is only in recent years that we are so open about this topic. Mel has done a lot to bring this to light with her work in this area. It’s important to know the dangers of these creeps who disrupt your life and peace of mind. It can happen to anyone … male or female.Deviating slightly, I can’t believe Eddie Murphy treated her like that!! (I was always curious how they ended up together and the real reason for the split). I never bought Eddie’s BS reasons for the break up.On the upside, I truly hope Mel makes a heck of a lot of money from this book! Written in her sassy, conversational style, it is riveting and very hard to put down. She is a survivor and I have every bit of faith she’ll sort through the legal battles, get custody in the end, and feel so much freer and more at peace. So don’t hesitate, it truly is worth a read and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

An interesting read
Brutally honest is an interesting read. Melanie is frank about her abusive relationship. She talked about her unhappiness that led to her alcohol and drug use. I felt empathy for her. Here she was in a toxic relationship that she did not have the courage to leave. Her abusive husband had sex tapes of her, tapes when she was drunk and taking drugs. She felt what he had on herCould ruin her career she worked hard to achieve. I felt sad the children were in the middle of this chaos. I didn’t like the flow of the book at times. Melanie jumped around with her story and she lost me a couple times. A few times I had to go back and read so I could follow. However, it’s her story and she is telling it her way. I was happy she finally had the courage to get out of the relationship and live a happier life with her children. Hopefully, her story will help other abused women get out before it’s too late.

I Could Not Put This Book Down
This book is definitely one of my top 3 favorite memoirs of 2019. I would even venture to say, as of today, it is #1 on my list.Melanie Brown aka Scary Spice aka Mel B. is best known as one-fifth of the iconic British girl group Spice Girls. After reaching stardom at the age of 19 Melanie has been in the spotlight for many years and has gone on to appear on shows such as Dancing With The Stars, The X Factor, America’s Got Talent, and her own reality It’s A Scary World.Although I’ve never been a huge supporter of Melanie’s work, I have always found her very intriguing. I think it’s the British accent coupled with her phenomenal body, that piques my curiosity. So when I learned she had written a memoir, I had to read it.The #1 reason I thought this book was so good is because 90% of the stories Melanie shared were totally new to me. I’ve never followed her life story. Therefore, I had no idea she had gone through a brutal and very public divorce from her ‘wasband’ (shoutout to Trina Braxton🙃) Stephen Belafonte. I didn’t know anything about the mental abuse, drug use, suicide attempts, isolation from her family, threesomes, sex tapes, and court cases. There were a few things about Melanie that I did already know. However, in this book she took everything I thought I knew, two steps further which made for excellent reading. For example, I knew Eddie Murphy is the father of her daughter Angel. However, what I did not know was that Eddie had a party at his home just so he could meet Melanie for the first time. And after a 9 month relationship, he broke up with her on national television. In this book she devotes 4 chapters to the rise and fall of their relationship. All while openly admitting that Eddie is the love of her life. The toughest moments for me was reading about the emotional abuse her oldest daughter Pheniox had to endure at the hands of her ex-husband Stephen. I just wanted to hug her. What I liked most was Melanie’s brutal honesty. She delivered her story straight no chaser. Also, she escaped a life of abuse, and that is definitely something to applaud.

I never heard a song from the Spice Girls but I liked the book.
I will be honest. I hated the spice girls and couldn't name a song or any members of the group besides Mel B. I remember seeing her on "AMERICA'S GOT TALENT" and fallen in love with her looks. She is absolutely stunning and has so much sex appeal and flavor. So I bought the book and enjoyed it. Again not knowing anything about her other than being Eddie Murphy's babymother. She's very open, the book is pretty well written and it kept my attention and I never got bored. A very interesting book about being Bi-Racial and growing up in England and be coming a pop star. The racism she had to endure her whole life and how it effected her later in her adult life. She goes into why she attempted suicide, her abusive monster of an ex husband and her drug abuse . She is very private about her relationships with other women whom she digs as much as men.Even if you're not a fan like I'm not, you'll still dig this book. If you're a fan? You'll love this book. Such a beautiful women.

Informative and interesting
This read was very informative, interesting and scary at the same time. I'm so sorry Mel B. went through what she did and can only hope she is in a much better place today. Keep your friends and loved ones close and ALWAYS trust your gut. For those who choose to judge another, I read something a while back that says a lot - Don't let someone who hasn't walked in your shoes tell you how to tie your shoelaces!!

Immersive
I can't begin to tell you what a great read this book was. I'm not a regular reader, but couldn't put this down. Read over 2 morning brews. What a tremendous book. Well written, thought provoking and gut wrenchingly heart breaking at times. Both Brutal and Honest. Fab.

A must read for both women and men
This is a truly blood curdling account of however strong a woman can be a man can come along and pray on her weaknesses, this is abuse in your face, it’s tragic, it’s sad but also funny. This is going on as we speak to both men and women and we must engage in raising awareness every which way possible, this should never happen to anyone.

A scary tell that needs to be told
This book feels like you’re sitting with a friend who just got out of a horrible situation and is processing her realisation while talking to you. Mel B is connecting the dots and starts seeing the patterns in her life to understand how she got where she is today. The book is not chronological written and jumps from key moments to memories from different times and situations. It is a download of the start of Mel’s recovery journey from such traumatic experience. She doesn’t go into too many details of the actual assaults (you might know the horrific details from tabloid stories) but gives you a good enough idea on how evil her abuser could be. It is truly her story and it is important that it got told on a public platform, as it hopefully helps other victims to be seen.
