Perfect little torch
Purchased this item to make lemon meringue cupcakes to add a toasted look to the frosting. Good to know: it doesn't come with any fuel, however, you can get fuel at any major hardware store. It's relatively simple to use, although it took a few attempts to get a flame. The flame is very fine at the tip which is great for control. Also is very quick and can brown a cupcake in about 3 seconds. Doesn't seem like a "gas guzzler" either-- barely put a dent in the fuel after toasting 24 cupcakes.

Very Basic Crème Brulee Torch
The Orka Kitchen Torch is a very basic crème brulee torch that works just fine for casual use. We have several different models of crème brulee torches that we use for cooking at home and in our small business for use in teaching crafting. Here are my observations:Pros:+ Easy to use+ Comfortable gripCons:- Not able to lock it on for hands free use- No fuel gauge\window so it is impossible to tell when it is going to run dryWe will use this torch as a backup or last choice in our shop. For those needing a very good crème brulee torch, I recommend BonJour Chef's Torch with Fuel Gauge, Brushed Aluminum .CFH

Fine for My Uses
Bought this for my very occasional creme brulees. I'm not a pro like the other reviewer so this is the only kitchen torch I have ever owned. But it lights first try every time, has an easy flame adjustment and did a fine job for me. I don't care that it has no fuel gage. The butane sits in the same cabinet and takes only seconds to add when the torch runs empty. Hands free operation also doesn't matter to me. You can get these features but not worth the $ for the occasional user.

Hit or Miss Cheap Torch
I bought this torch figuring I would save a few dollars, because I was only going to use it for a few things. Shipping took much longer than expected. When the item finally I immediately tested the tank to see if there was any fluid. There was not, so I filled it up and tried to spark it. I got One single shot out of it, then it was dead. I then tried dumping the fluid, refilling it, giving the fluid time to settle (per the directions [yes I read them lol]), taking it apart, readjusting the parts so the line up better, the torch section simply did not ignite again. You would be better off spending the a little bit more for a more solid piece of equipment like the Bonjour.

hard to light
i fill it up with Zippo Butane and it takes multiple pulls of the trigger(10-15 times) to get this thing to light sometimes! and they child safety is very cumbersome

Great starter torch for the price!
I ordered this kitchen torch to make Creme Burlee. Though I liked many of the nicer torches out there I didn't anticipate needing too much use out of a torch since I just wanted it for this one dish so I decided to go with something basic. This torch has great flame control from very low to rather high. The base of the torch does fall of easy which can be annoying but that is really my only complaint. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a basic torch as it really does the job at a great low price however if you are looking for a torch that you will use on a semi-regular basis then I would probably go with something a bit nice with a few more features for just a bit more money.

Needs two hands to operate!
I bought this torch because I have one very similar to it. However, the difference between the two is this one has a safety that must be pulled down to operate the trigger. So, if you're trying to use it with one hand, it's almost impossible to pull the small safety knob down, and then pull the trigger back. On top of that, once you release the trigger slightly, the safety goes back into place...and you're stuck starting all over again. If you don't mind using both hands to operate this (one to pull the safety down, and then one to pull the trigger) this is a great torch. One other small issue was the "foot" on the torch, which allows it to remain in a standing position, was very loose and would fall off almost every time I'd pick the torch up or put it down. I finally epoxied it in place, and it works fine now. If you know what to expect, this is a fine torch. However, I think there may be better ones out there (I have one, but it's no longer made!)

Great for the occasional user!
This is a super safe kitchen torch in that the safety mechanism makes sure that you don't accidentally turn it on without meaning to. It is definitely better suited for the occasional user though, as it does not allow you to keep it on like the blowtorches in commercial kitchens. Also, it was slightly difficult to refuel as the butane leaked a bit to the side while refilling it. Not sure if it lies with the fuel or the blow torch.
