Update, i was in an accident the other day and the built in car cam clearly showed i was not at fault! Original post: I've been looking at smaller cheaper units ever since my work issued a Ford Explorer with a less than impressive radio unit. I've missed the Chevy Tahoe with the built in touch screen android auto info-tainment system, but can't change out the head unit due to polices that prevent it. The short: this screen is great. It has a big beautiful screen that is vibrant and easy to see even on bright sunlight. It is very responsive and very wide. I have it connected by Bluetooth for wireless android auto with me Smsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. I've used it for about 2 weeks, and even in the 100 degree plus heat in South Carolina, it has stayed sturdily mounted and has operated smoothly. It includes a mount with double faced 3M style tape and a long suction cup mount that has held firm even in direct sunlight. I eventually want to get one of the grid mount solutions that bolts in but this included mouth holds firm and doesn't bounce or slide. The screen is plenty wide enough to use the Android Auto with the map screen and the media screen displayed. The only downside that I have found is more of an issue with android auto, if I don't turn the unit off after I get out of the car, android auto on my phone keeps trying to connect and continuously starts playing spotify on my phone speakers even when I pause it, so my sick Throwback Thursday jams play on my phone when I go into the gas station. My recommendation would be to unplug the power or get a 12 volt power splitter with a power button. While I mainly got this for the android auto function, it has a very nice high resolution front camera that continuously records onto the included 64 gig microSD card. You can also take a picture manually. You have to disconnect your phone to view the pictures and video. It's wide enough to catch multiple lanes of traffic. I haven't been able to figure out how to zoom in without taking the card out but it clear enough to catch tag numbers on cars in front of you. This is a keeper and I kinda need one for my older second gen Tacoma.

iPhone’s CarPlay (or Android Auto) is built into your phone. It puts very simplified versions of some of your phone’s apps on a larger touchscreen in your car and plays the audio through your car stereo. The RC14 is LAMTTO’s most recently revised and updated touchscreen. It can be set up by the average person in a few minutes (aside from running a wire for the optional backup camera which I didn’t order with my unit). After starting your car, the RC14 touchscreen automatically connects to both your phone and your car stereo (in 15 seconds on mine). After touching the CarPlay icon (or Android Auto) on the touchscreen, some of your phone’s icons appear. Things are easier to see and use on the touchscreen. CarPlay apps are very basic though and designed so you CAN’T do many things that may distract your driving like reading texts (unless a new text comes in). Siri (or Google Assistant) however can do many things for you. This includes getting directions using map apps, music apps, responding to and dictating a text, making phone calls, weather and others. The audio sent from my iPhone to the car stereo is very good and similar quality to what’s sent to BlueTooth earbuds. The RC14 has many other features including a full time recording front HD dash camera. It starts automatically, has a very clear wide view, and records full time when your car is running unless you remove the included 64GB TF card. The screen is bright and auto adjusts. It is high resolution for its size. It is a perfect compact size for my car but I can see map detail very clearly. I’m custom mounting it on a hinge in front of my car stereo and won’t be using the camera. I’m still trying to get used to the limited functionality of CarPlay apps, having to use my car stereo along with the touchscreen, talking to Siri, and understanding Apple’s configuration options. Also, moving each time through icons that I’ll never use is a chore since the menu system on the touchscreen is not at all customizable. OTHER TECHNICAL DETAILS There are three options to connect the RC14 to your car stereo: -BlueTooth (if your car stereo has it, and mine doesn’t), -broadcasting to an unused station on your car radio (which works well for all apps except when using the phone callers hear an echo), or -plugging into your car stereo’s AUX plug; (my car stereo has one and it is what I use). Customer Support has been very helpful and provided a firmware update so the clock would update and also recommended a $9 noise isolator filter that removed static I initially had on the AUX plug of my vintage car. I just installed it this week so I’m sure there are many new things I will discover. Overall it is really nice to have more functionality (and music) added to my car even though it can take a lot of time figuring out how to use it all the same way I do on my phone.

The wireless CarPlay device performs exceptionally. It has a 4k dash cam with very clear video. It came with the storage card already installed making it plug and play, no extra items required. The CarPlay connection to my phone is very fast upon start and the CarPlay features were easy to use and quick to respond. The screen is bright but I found the screen did have some reflection in direct sunlight. It was not too distracting and adjusting the position helped. The device was easy to install in my car. This was an excellent product to use in my car that has an outdated entertainment system. I used Bluetooth for the sound which worked very well. This device is a great value. I did have a question/small issue and the seller was quick to respond and their customer service was knowledgeable and friendly. They answered my questions and was able to resolve my issue. *Update 6/1/2024* Rating changed from 4 stars to 2 stars. I worked with their customer service for weeks regarding an issue with the time used for the dash cam videos resetting to 12 hours and 16 minutes from actual time and +46 days into the future every time the device connects to CarPlay. They sent two replacement devices all with the same issue. I continued to test and send results. Then they just stopped responding. Their last email was a question, I responded, got no response, I sent follow-up emails, no response. I continue to have the time issue. I suspect they may have been dragging the process along to prevent a return. The issue makes no sense and sounds like a firmware problem. I liked the device but going from actively working to help with the issue to no response is disappointing. And the issue isn’t resolved and requires me to set the time for the dash cam every time I connect to the device. **Update 7/15/24** Finally got the vendor to respond and after reviewing my testing, and showing them how to reproduce the issue, they fixed the firmware and date/time issue has been corrected. I been testing for 3 days and all looks good. Raising the rating to 4 stars.

Update: My favorite Amazon purchase thus far. The ability to stream via Bluetooth from Sirius XM provides so much greater fidelity than the satellite system provided. I initially mounted this on my window but it kept falling until I realized it’s best mounted above the dashboard. My wife recently purchased a 2024 Camry and I was impressed by the Apple Car Play capabilities. I inherited her 2009 Camry and was interested in after market products that might give my old car similar features. While this is a new purchase and I can’t attest to longevity at this point, I am blown away by this product. The 2009 Camry isn’t blue tooth capable and my previous source of entertainment has been an old after market SiriusXM radio broadcasting via my FM radio. This product not only allows me to stream SiriusXM, and the sound quality is superior to the old radio, but I can stream Apple Music which sounds great. It is Siri capable and you can compose and receive messages and make phone calls with the unit. And the map feature, which streams from my phone as do all the other services, is a bonus. I recieved a message after purchasing the unit which stated that all Car Play features may not work if your iPhone uses IOS 17 or greater and the instructions for upgrading the firmware seem vague, but this unit does everything. I think the trick is pairing the unit with your phone’s Bluetooth and having a Wi-fi connection when initiating the unit for the first time. This device has a front facing camera but I’ve yet to use that function. For the price this is a bargain.

I'm glad I did. The setup was straightforward and quick. It connected easily with my iPhone, and I had no trouble casting the sound through my car’s speakers. The built-in dashcam is a nice bonus—it works reliably and records with clear video quality. What really stands out is the device's overall stability. I haven’t had any issues with it disconnecting or falling off the mount, which I know can be a common problem with similar units. The only minor downside I’ve noticed is that the screen can be a bit hard to see in direct sunlight. That said, it's only happened occasionally and hasn’t really affected my overall experience. All in all, this is a solid, well-performing CarPlay device that does exactly what it promises. Highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their car with wireless CarPlay without spending a fortune!

I would not purchase this brand period. I had it for about a year and change and it suddenly would start causing constant disconnects from phone. This was a result of Google releasing Android 16 and a software fix could easily make this device stable again. Instead I heard nothing from them after reaching out and asking for a software update. Customer service was a 0. Seems crazy they won't update it. Purchased a similar device that actually supports the product with software updates. Do your homework!

*update* I have had this unit a little over a year and it has stopped working. I tried plugging it in to various USB cables and power supplies but it will not turn on any more. That is a shame because it has been samazingly useful while it worked. I honestly like this much more than I would have expected. My car is old enough to not have Android Auto, so having the full maps available on my dash is great! The screen is clear and easy to read when driving . The touchscreen is a little jerky and slow to respond, but is better than I would have expected for the price. The built-in dashcam is really the icing on the cake. I haven't needed it (yet), but the video quality looks good enough if/when you eventually do. It was a bit tricky to get installed and connected properly, and initially I had used the aux out for audio. Once I realized I could use my phone's Bluetooth to connect to both this and my car at the same time, that made using it a lot easier since I could use my car's built-in controls

I got this for my 2011 Hyundai Genesis so that I could have CarPlay. I am really impressed with what it does. As you can see from the photo, it has a front-facing camera that takes clear audio/video recordings onto the included 60 GB micro SD card. I love this! There is an included cord to attach to an AUX input which I have in my Genesis. The included charger as two USB ports. One is to power the device and the other I use to charge my iPhone while using. The CarPlay works excellently. I can listen to Amazon Music and the sound for music and podcast is outstanding -- much better quality than what I was getting from a built-in Sirius system. (I cancelled that.) I noticed that the date/time was consistently off. I would set it correctly and then when I started up again it was off. I contacted the support email and I heard back from them the next day with instructions on how to update the firmware. I followed the instructions and now the date/time is working perfectly. I think that this is a great product for anyone with an older car. It does it all. And most importantly the customer service actually works! They get right back to you. I had accidentally ordered two devices-- one from Amazon and another vendor. I contacted support and they refunded my money right back to PayPal. If you want CarPlay AND Camera that records beautifully, I highly recommend this product.
