Zojirushi Stainless Steel Non Stick Vacuum Insulated Travel Mug, 600 ml, Black

I needed a travel mug of a type, contigo, thermos, i looked at them all, this one took me by surprise with all the good reviews, and the base was narrow enough to fit in my car holder, something that was not very clear on other travel mugs or flasks i read about on amazon. I would describe this as a flask that you can drink from without pouring the liquid into a cup, so really a travel mug. Press the button with your thumb, top flips open, use your forefinger to flip the lid closed again, so simple and easy enough when you are driving, no need to take your eyes off the road at all.Now for the most important part of my review, everything people are saying in these reviews is correct, for hot drinks like tea, this flask will keep it hot for 8 or 9 hours, and i mean hot, after 9 hours my tea was as drinkable as my morning cuppa. so if you are going to sip your tea or coffee, but mainly tea throughout the day, then leave the top off for 5 to 10 minutes before screwing the lid on, otherwise you will burn your tongue, if you will not drink any for a few hours then leave it off for 2 minutes or so, this product is really that good at keeping liquids hot. at £25 it is a bit on the high side, but well worth it in my opinion, the colour of this flask does not bother me either way, matt black, metallic black, although the metallic look on mine looks really well, and according to one reviewer is actually the better product overall. 600ml is a good size able to hold nearly 2 big mugs of tea, it is long and slender, really good for getting your hand around, videos on youtube show how easy it is to clean every inch of this flask, i would highly recommend this zojirushi 600ml black flask, i hope to get many years of good hot tea all day long from this flask, making a cup of tea before you go to bed and having it ready on the bedside table when you wake up is another good reason to spend your money on this flask, the sipping area is also well thought out, no dripping down your chin. if anything changes about this product in the future i will re edit this review.

This is without doubt the best sipping flask on the market. I ordered it following a New York Times Wirecutter review, which said the same. It is easy to use, easy to clean and you can simply sip coffee or tea whilst on the go without a fear of leaks. The cup lid has a lock: to use simply slide the lock button to unlock and then press the release button to flip the lid. The other amazing thing is this flask will keep you drink hot for a long time - in fact if you want to drink sooner in the day, you might want to add a bit of cool water before you leave. The drink can stay piping hot for upto 8 hours, and can remain too hot to drink if made a kettle temperature. But if you want your drink hot 8-24 hours later, just go with kettle temperature water, it will be perfect.

I have been through several mugs. The main criteria was I wanted one that could hold a very large drink, like a 20oz (600ml) Starbucks. I started with the rubber collapsible ones. They were all awful, with rubber that became flimsy when hot, and lids that were difficult to thread. I even bought one that claimed to be 550ml, and was in fact 450ml. Sent that one back. Then I gave up on collapsibles and got a Contigo Byron. It was great for three weeks, kept drinks hot for about 2-3 hours. And then the rubber seal stretched and it became a leaking disaster (a common problem according to other reviews).And then I came across this Zojirushi. It was like they had gone out of there way to stay hidden on Amazon search, but I found it through a google search. It is amazing. For one, it's super light, feels like half the weight of the Contigo. And it is 100% leakproof, with an easy screw top and no seals to wear out. The most amazing thing is that it keeps drinks hot for ever. Well, OK, ten hours and still hot. Those reviews that talk about it keeping things too hot is true. I sometimes need to cool the drink down before putting the lid down, or it's too hot to drink for hours. Same with cold. I put ice in in the morning and it was still there the next morning!All is not perfect though. The main problem is that the canister is very narrow (but fine for drinking from), which means it is hard to fill from the double jet drink machines. Coffee drinks with foam are especially a problem as you can't get both jets positioned over the hole. We are thinking of using a plastic funnel to get around that. The other problem is that it is quite tall, so you have to hold it at an angle on most drink machines to get the liquid into the hole. It is also a bit fussy for cleaning, with a few components to take apart, and because of the narrow opening, needs a bottle brush to clean thoroughly (but careful, it has a great non-stick surface to prevent off-tastes, so you don't want to scratch it).So, if you can live with the minor downsides, it is super light, miraculously holds 600ml, is totally leakproof, and has outstanding heat and cold retention times.

Absolutely brilliant! I make coffee before 5am for my commute and it’s still hot after lunch. This also shows the capacity, which is greater than other travel mugs I’ve had so my drink lasts for ages. The slimline design means it fits in my bags and even coat pocket easily. It stands steady on a rocking train and doesn’t leak at all. It’s easy to open, to drink from and to clean. I gave 4 out of 5 for ‘easy to clean’ because it’s not supposed to go in the dishwasher. I did this and discovered that the outer skin peels off as a result (see photo). But it hasn’t affected the performance and now I wash by hand. I’m so glad I bought it.

Rarely you come across an item that has had its design perfected by people who really care. Thus it is with this wonderful flask. It keeps drinks amazingly hot, is super to use in the car whilst driving, it has a lock to prevent accidental it is thin enough to fit in car cup holders and it does not hold onto odours even if I forget to wash my coffee out for a few days. It quite simply, the perfect flask.
