FT85BD Dual ESC 84V 200A with Aluminum Case Non-VESC for Electric Skateboard/Scooter/Ebike Speed Controller/Electric Motorcycle/Robotics

The Caroma 700W skateboard comes stock with a junky ECM and battery. I ripped both out of the plastic housing and the Flipsky module fit right in. I cut little recesses for the four flipsky mounting tabs and it sits right in there with no screws etc. I also knocked out the middle separator in the housing for more wire clearance. The Ryobi 40V 6AH battery is mounted on top of the board right in the middle and doesn't really get in the way. Now I can swap in a spare battery on the go and not have to worry about dying when I'm not close to home! Acceleration is much improved, downright scary in high gear. That's where I run it but moderation is key...it will buck you off! Before the board was dying way too fast and crapping out trying to haul my thickness up a decent hill...now it pulls with authority even on the worst hills. I hit over 24mph downhill before calling it on the speed tests. I do have extensive experience retrofitting a Flipsky setup into my ebike and I'm happy to say this setup was much more plug and play than my last endeavor. The ebike took me months to iron out all of the issues...I had my skateboard retrofitted and running solidly within a day or two. The new software isn't nearly as thorough feeling as the VESC based option but it has plenty to tweak on and gets the job done quickly. Once I figured out the VX4 settings (FTESC and UART), I have real time battery info, speed in mph and can tweak motor stats on the fly. Happy I pulled the trigger on this...even though it went on sale right after...it worked so well I don't even care.

The setup is easier than a regular VESC. Good power. Did have a couple minor bugs, but figured them out. That’s the good stuff. The bad part is it only lasted about a month before it stopped working, but not before it went full throttle outta nowhere then suddenly braked and threw my 50 yr old body in the street. Looks like one of the caps had a bad solder cause it’s rattling around in there. I’ve tried to resolder it, but the esc is glued in the housing and it won’t come out. It’s cheap. You get what you pay for I guess.

Not easy to configure, does not work out of the box without connecting to a PC and running impossible to find configuration software which is windows only and triggers your antivirus software half the time. I almost gave up on this thing at least three times, but did eventually get it working, and once you do, it works great, high power, dual output, good fast throttle response and has regen braking. The guy whose work they ripped off really did a great job. His genuine VESC boards are the same price and much easier to set up and get support for, so I will probably go with one next time. This will work if you are patient and good at troubleshooting, but definitely not one I'd recommend for beginners or casual tinkerers.

Does not work out of the box! Be prepared to go through a bunch of nonsense if you want to use this. It’s a great price however the firmware isn’t up to date and it won’t update to new firmware because it’s out of date!!! Yeah and the drivers are damn near impossible to find. It’s a train wreck and I wish I had not bought it. Best advice i can give you is look for something different. This controller is not worth then pain and suffering. Once you finally uncover the greatest mystery on earth and get it to finally work your only half way done there is still adjusting and fine tuning a lot settings that make no sense to even a more experienced user. These people selling this are absolutely knowingly selling a product that is impossible for the average person to install. A product that lacs pretty much any support. It’s over complicated and unstable. At the end of it all the flipsky has more power and top speed than the O.E. Controllers. Now that I know how to do it. Still wasn’t worth it .

absolute best controller, I use it for the Ninebot Gokart that runs 2 motors but also I have an issue that its hard to configure on the app they use to set values some times it gives itself a time out and just disconnects not sure why.

Good affordable power. Please use a vx4 or the Bluetooth module to understand how to program as it's more simple then the vedder software but there is also the issue. No traction control or abs option in the current software package and hoping it comes in a future update.

Awful customer service. Would not send parts out that were missing from my order from the manufacturer, had to contact Amazon for a refund, will not be doing business with Flipsky again.

I made my electric skateboard 4WD with 2 of these escs, I’m running 75 volts with a 18s6p battery I’m pushing 180 amps to the rear wheels and 120 amps to the front wheels. Super reliable ! Highly recommend this over a traditional vesc

Als Regler für mein E-Sup Board und 6374 140 kV Motor. ( flipsky 3600W wasserdichter bürstenloser Gleichstromm. ) Wenn nur einen Ausgang verwendet wird, erscheint beim Test ein Fehler auf Ausgang zwei ! Der Regler ist mit dem Akku in einem Wasserdichten Koffer, der Regler wird mit 36V Batteriesystem etwa 40-50 Grad warm Evtl. werde ich beim umbau auf 48V eine Kühlplatte integrieren.
