Only kills the data wires not the power wires
I am using a scanning device in my car semi permanently mounted, plugged into the emissions port for data & power. It uses the 12v power and would drain the battery if I left it plugged in. The Cat 8 connector on the back of the device is hard to get to, to unplug it. So I bought this switch to turn off the power to the device. It does not do this. It does freeze the data on the screen. Waste of money for me.

Great to isolate camera from system
Easy on off

Only switches one wire. Some links will just reconnect at lower speeds.
Seems like a cool idea. RJ-45 kind of stinks. The tabs break off, and don't always release easily. A switched cable would be convenient for testing. This implementation isn't very good. It only switches a single wire, green-white (T-568B).This will cause some links to disconnect, but others will just auto-negotiate a 100 megabit (fast ethernet) connection. Others will get confused, disconnect, but then when you switch back on it will negotiate 100M instead of 1G.I feel like you would just have to try it with your hardware to see how it behaves, but disconnecting isn't guaranteed. This simply isn't the correct way to disconnect ethernet links.

Proper cat-6 with all 8 pairs connected. Worked fine on my Windows 11 mini PC.
I got this to easily isolate PCs running untrusted systems from the network. It fit my mini PC whose Ethernet connector catch notch points down (so the cord angles up). It won't fit my desktop PCs whose notch points up (so cord would cover USB ports below Ethernet port); for these I'd need the "down" version. Switching Ethernet on and off worked fine under Windows 11 while it was running, with immediate results.Cable is decent. Cable tester shows every pair connected. Cable is printed as cat6 type. Switch is easy to flip.Testing how it works with a network cable tester, it switches pin 3, one half of the receive pair. This prevents responses so the network chip treats it as disconnected after giving up on communicating.
