My Go-To for Reliable Portable Internet
This TP-Link 4G LTE MiFi has been a solid bit of kit for me, going from a stand-in for home broadband to a faithful companion on cabin getaways. It's handled everything from demanding marketing and IT work with four devices connected to just streaming music for a couple of phones, and it's kept pace admirably. Speed and battery life are key here, and whilst it's 4G, it delivers a perfectly decent connection for my day-to-day tasks. Battery-wise, I'm looking at around seven hours, which is pretty good for a full day out, and the fact I can use it while it's charging is a definite bonus. Setting it up with a Smarty SIM was a doddle, and it holds its own for signal strength right alongside my mobile phone. There haven't been any faffy issues, and it's proved to be good value. While I'm eyeing up a future 5G upgrade for that extra bit of oomph, this 4G MiFi has been a reliable workhorse and a fuss-free way for me to stay connected, whether I'm working from home or chilling off-grid. It's a sound choice if you need portable internet without any unnecessary complications.

Useful travel companion
This 4G mifi device is ideal for travelling, especially as a couple or family with several devices, and you want to avoid horrendous roaming data rates. It's very pocketable and portable and of sturdy construction. It takes a full sized SIM card (adaptors are included). Just get a local SIM card for the country you're travelling to (or one with good rates there), make sure it's activated (if the mobile network activation requires making a phone call, you will need to do this with another phone first as this device can't make voice calls), connect to the WiFi access point with the details on the sticker and you're ready to go. The TPMiFi app is pretty good - which you can use when you're connected to the device. It's pretty modern design and easy enough to use (though some of the features might a bit hidden ). You can throttle individual devices which might be handy to ensure little Jonny doesn't use all of your data by watching hundreds of slightly different 4K baby shark remixes. You can change the WiFi signal strength to eek a bit more out of the battery. You can also view SMSs received too. The battery was the only part which was a little disappointing. It's removable (big plus as it makes it very repairable in theory), but in areas with less 4G signal (e.g. rural areas) it can drain quite quickly especially when using lots of data. However, it can operate whilst being charged - so you can pair it with a USB power bank (like an Anker PowerCore) to stay connected longer. Overall, thoroughly worth the modest investment if you use it even just for a couple of trips abroad.

Works well
Easy to use and the app is great. Used in Thailand and had multiple devices connected to it. Only issue is that it gets really hot. Not sure if this is normal or not.

A Good Buy
This a really good gadget. I have it paired with a smarty sim. It lives in my barn and works 24hrs a day with a Wi-fi camera that keeps a check on my horses. I never fail to have a signal. It is easy to use with my iPhone. I am very impressed and I will be cancelling my home internet and investing in another one of these. Much cheaper!! The first one I sent back because the on/off button wouldn’t work. Amazon did an immediate swap within 24hrs, no quibble.

OK but interface very confusing
I bought this for an elderly member of my church congregation who did not have internet access, so thought this would be a good way to give him temporary access. The M7200 works well, but is very confusing to to my elderly friend. Is the TPLink ON or OFF. This really simply question turns out to be quite difficult for him to work out. All the lights go out automatically after 20 seconds. Took a while to get him to understand that just because all the lights go out, doesn't mean that it is OFF. I think that if the device has power from the USB charger then the LED lights should be ON, if the device is ON, or OFF if the device is OFF. To turn the device on requires you hold the power button for 3 seconds, but to turn it off you also hold it for 3 seconds. It's a toggle action, with the same button. Whilst I understand that, it turns out that it's really complicated for an elderly person to understand that. So whilst the device itself is OK am marking it down for interface.

Failed after 1 month use
Initially the device was easy to set up and worked OK. However after 1 month's use it totally locked up and even the factory reset did not work. I contacted TP-Link support who asked me to run various tests and answer various questions. After that they concluded that the device was faulty and could not be repaired. They advised me to make a warranty claim against the supplier (Amazon) who should replace or refund me. However as the product was over 1 month since delivery there is no mechanism provided by Amazon to make such a claim. I am unhappy that the product broke and even more unhappy that Amazon have no mechanism of making a warranty claim for the product they sold me. I am equally unhappy that TP-Link have passed me back to Amazon. If anyone knows how I can make the claim against Amazon I would like to hear. Update: TP-Link have agreed to process my warranty claim given the lack of an Amazon process, so I am happier with TP-Link.

great gadget for long trips
I bought this for a long summer in France. Adding a SIM card (Free - the company, not the price - gives 210GB for £20/month) was dead simple and I generally leave it plugged into the USB charger and forget about it. When no plugged in the battery lasts, I'd say, about eight hours. It picks up 4G from almost everywhere we've been (including very rural spots) and gives a good wifi signal most of the time. Just occasionally, it will stop for some reason and you might need to log back into to the app on your phone to restart things - but this takes seconds. Great value for money so far (three months).
