Used this on a bunch of surplus ammo cans that had surface rust on them from being in storage in a pole barn for decades. Sprayed each can down completely, let them sit for 3 days to evaporate some, hit them with a brass brush, and all of the rust spots were gone. Also, sprayed down a recently-acquired SKS that had seen better days. The metal had surface rust, the chamber and barrel were severely neglected, as were both piston rods, trigger group, gas tube, butt plate, and the bolt carrier group. Basically, the rifle looked like it was stored in a pole barn in the tropics somewhere. Everything looked terribly neglected. I used half of a can just on the SKS, which is a LOT of product. A little goes a long way, and it does penetrate. Left for a week wrapped in cheesecloth to keep it saturated and to help pull off the rust, dirt and whatever else was on it. Unwrapped it, hit it with some Purple Power degreaser (diluted 2:1), rinsed with hot water and used shop air to dry it off. Afterwards, it looked 30 years newer and 98% of the surface rust was gone. It will need refinished in the future, but this stuff gave it a serious face-lift and cleaning it desperately needed.
