Harriet Gets Carried Away

Daughters Love This Book
Fun story with great art. My twin girls gravitate towards this book more than others during story time and they like the representation of seeing a character with two dads just like them. For reviewers that mention that this book has an "agenda" are "Carried Away" in their own false narrative. The story is about Harriet and her adventure, nothing more.If you can't handle a story book that just mentions "her dads" as a side note, go ahead and prep for homeschooling to keep pretending you can keep your little one under a rock.

An amazingly cute childrens book
One of my very favorite children's books I've ever read. Such a cute story with great illustrations. It's about a little girl who gets carried away literally and figuratively while at the store trying to find the perfect party hats for her birthday. Will she make it back in time for the party? Did her dads notice she is gone?Luckily there are some animal friends to help her out. Plus who doesn't want to wear costumes all the time? You should also check out Jessie Sima's first book Not Quite Narwhal I'm a big fan of these first two books and can't wait to see more from her.

Cute plot, adorable characters!
We have three of Jessie Sima’s books and love them. It’s a cute story, full of imagination, like her other books. It’s a unique plot: Harriet loves to dress up in costume and one day gets carried away by a pack of penguins because she’s dressed in her penguin costume. I love that Sima emphasizes how important it is to accept and celebrate others’ differences. I also love that she has a non-traditional family in this book - Harriet has two dads - kids need to see that.

Awesome inclusive story!
My kids love it! I love how the story isn’t focusing on LGBT parents, but just a little girl that daydreams but just happens to have two dads.

Fantastic children’s book
Such an adorable book about a kid with a vivid imagination. I also LOVE that the author shows different lifestyles without it being the focus of the book. This is a great children’s story and should be a part of every child’s library.

Little kid, big imagination
This is a fun story about a little girl with a big imagination. It also normalizes a two dad family without making a big deal about it, which is totally age appropriate and also reflective of the diversity that makes America great.

Highly recommend
LOVE this book. I read this to my 3 year old multiple time a week. She loves Harriet, her neat adventure, and all her costumes. Highly recommend purchasing. I really enjoy this author

Cute book
A really cute little story. The protagonist has two dads but that's not what the book is about.

Gay dads; ok story
I'm glad I bought this, but I'm not sure they put all that much effort into the story. I think they just assumed people would buy it so that their kids would know two dad families are normal and fine. I'm looking forward to books with LGBT parents and characters that have more interesting stories than "I went to the North Pole and then came back." She doesn't even play when she gets there.
