19-inch Premium Backgammon Set - Desert Brown Board

I ordered this backgammon board after a board gifted by my wife (from another source) arrived in a broken condition. This backgammon board is a pleasure to play with. The pips are girthy and have a nice, solid feel to them. They fit in the pockets very well. The board is actually felt and has a nice feel to it. The construction is sturdy. All in all it was a very nice set. The price seemed a bit steep to me, but spending less purchased much inferior boards. I took one star away for the traveling rating only because at 19 inches, this set is a bit on the large side for travel. Short story, quality board, nice appearance and very sturdy. The item was exactly as described and was shipped quickly.

I looked at a number of options before purchasing this set. Initially, I was interested in a wooden set, but the reported problems with magnetic closures (and in some cases, de-laminating veneer) caused me to look elsewhere. I've had one of the inexpensive, corduroy-covered or plush-covered sets, and while it was okay, I wanted something with a heftier look and feel. This set fits the need perfectly, the leatherette is very well done and all the fittings align correctly. The closures and hinges are solid and work well. The boards inside (part of the case) are covered in material that feels luxurious and has plenty of contrast. The dice are substantial, and the playing pieces have a heavy feel that makes them a pleasure to move. All in all, a top end set at a great price point. Highly recommended.

By using this set it will likely increase your enjoyment of the game. I've been playing BG for many, many years on a satisfactory board but decided to "step up" to this board. It has definitely enhanced my enjoyment of the game. The movement of the pieces is so smooth and easy, and the large board makes it easier to "see" the overall "battlefield". It's worth the investment if you are someone who plays more than once or twice a year. Probably not so hot if you travel a lot and take your board as it's quite large, however perfect carry-on size.

Visually, the stones (checkers) and matching dice should match the colors of the board, IMHO. White matches the white points on the board but black (while not offensive) should really be brown to match the brown points on the board. I really don't understand the mis-matched colors. So that's why I've given the set 4 of 5 stars (SEE UPDATE). Having said that, I sent them a note regarding the chipped white die that came with my set (see image). Within hours I got a nice note back letting me know that new dice were being send to me that very afternoon. I received a black and white set of dice a few days later. GREAT RESPONSE! UPDATE: Now the latch is not working. See video. Will send it back for an exchange. If all goes well, perhaps I'll change my rating. However, I spent over $150 including taxes so I expect a higher quality product.

I love this backgammon set. The pieces are thick and feel substantial. The case seems well made, with quality clasps. The pieces and die fit well in the case. The only thing I'm worried about is the light color of the smooth felt playing surface. It 'may' be difficult to clean as time passes. But, who cares? The only other thing...this is NOT a travel set...You'll need to be in first class to set it up on an airplane. But again, not a big deal ... You'll feel like you're in first class when playing on this board!

Don't get me wrong the board is good. It's big, it feels great when you touch it. That's a solid product I really like to use. However, it belongs to a premium segment of the market, where the customer pays extra money for the highest quality. The board came with a scratch on the side and a few slightly damaged checkers. The package was not damaged at all, so I would consider those damages as manufacturing defects.

Didn't want to pay quite that much, but it is a better quality set than lower priced games. Thisis hte last sete I will ever need. It will last a lifetime and more.

Great board!! Pips are large and a good weight! Slide easily on the felt board! Case is very nice! Would be a great gift! Not cheaply made!! Very high quality!! Heavy and larger than average, so not something you would travel with. We bought 2! Love them!! Two thumbs up!

This is a quality board . It is very suitable for tournament play as it has 40mm checkers. The board proportions are excellent and the checkers are a perfect fit within the playing fields. ( NB the board does not come with the scorecard or clock as featured in my picture). If you are looking to buy your first quality board then I would highly recommend this 19inch Silverman Board.

really loved this product, well made, beautiful colours, pieces feel good to touch and the dice don't make such a noise when rolling due to the soft fabric that covers the surface - very nicely done
