Bought it for a 7 day Kilimanjaro hike. Very good, fits more than it looks and smooth to carry it around.

Fast, flexible, light and comfortable!
This is a well-made, lightweight, flexible, adjustable day pack. I expect nothing less than great quality from Osprey and was happy once again. This pack actually exceeded my already high expectations. Here’s why.Oh and I have spent years in the adventure travel and outdoor industries and have also been a trip leader, so I have used multiple dozens of backpacks in my time on the trail.First: The fit. I am 6’ and 150 lbs and got the large. With my other packs, I feel like I am on the upper end of the sizing but for some reason this felt plenty long and super comfortable.Versatile: The fact that the frame is much less rigid than other serious hiking packs makes it a good choice for when you want to go light, fast, and comfortable. I have even used this for light trail running when I needed to pack rain gear and food. The capacity of the bag is suitable for full day hikes and it can function as an under seat carry on too if you are traveling. It fit in coach on the SWA seat I was in.Load system and pockets: The load system is well thought through, from the waist belt that effectively transfers the load to my hips to the side compression straps and shoulder strap adjustments that cinch the load in so it doesn’t bounce or pull back away from me. The pockets are just enough. It’s got large waist belt pockets, one with a zip, one where you can tuck a snack or other item you want to get to quickly, like an inhaler. The front of the pack functions like a running vest—stash pockets, a small zip pocket, etc. allowing access to important things without stopping. I put my glasses (or sunglasses) in there, for example. The body of the pack has that giant “black hole” feeling—ample room and no pesky dividers to take up space or make it so you can’t get a large item in. There is a mesh zip pocket inside too—I use this for my keys, a little cash, wallet etc. i.e. things I don’t need on the trail. The external mesh stretch pocket is easy to access—I just stick my hand in, although and if you want it fully open you can undo the lid. The lid has multiple closure points ensuring a nice tight fit for your gear, which removes slosh and bounce. The side pockets are my favorite because on most of my other packs my bottles fall out when I lean over too far. With these I just cinch them in.If you want a lightweight versatile pack that will last, this is worth a look. If you prefer a more rigid frame, and aren’t planning to go “light and fast” check out the rest of the Osprey Tempest line—both the 20L and 24L are worthy daypacks. I have these as well and love them.

Roll top entry does not compress pack
You would have to really stuff this pack in order for the roll top to even remotely compress contents. If the pack is 2/3 full the cinch cord is not sufficient for eliminating the remaining 1/3 space. It also needs a quick access pocket beyond the strap and waist pockets for keys, wallet, etc. If I’m not wearing the pack I have to fumble around to find the right strap pocket to locate my item. One of the strap pockets does fit the iPhone 15+ so I appreciate that feature.

Lightweight and comfortable
The quality of this pack is amazing. Just what I have come to expect from Osprey. The truth is you really can't go wrong with an Osprey pack. They are expensive but I've found them all to be worth it and this pack is no different. It is very comfortable to wear. I had my doubts because the straps are minimally padded but they are super comfortable due to the width. The pack has plenty of little storage spaces as well as the main pack compartment. If you are used to a pack that fully opens instead of a top loading backpacking designed bag like this I can see it taking awhile to get used to it but in the end the comfort will far out way any inconvenience of having to dig around for things. All in all it is a great backpack. I have always found Osprey bags to be top of the line backpacks and this one is no different.

A Lightweight, Terrific Addition to my Hike
From its first use, the Osprey Tempest Velocity 20L Women's Hiking Backpack has impressed me with its construction quality and functionality. The flexible back panel and lightweight design have made it an absolute joy to carry, even on longer hikes. The running-vest-inspired harness ensures a snug, comfortable fit, allowing me to move freely without any hindrance.I particularly appreciate the thoughtful features like the emergency whistle on the sternum strap, providing a sense of security when venturing into remote areas. The dual-access stretch side pockets and the large zippered phone pocket offer convenient storage solutions, keeping my essentials within easy reach. Furthermore, the hydration sleeve and soft flask-compatible pockets with stabilization loops are a testament to Osprey's understanding of a hiker's needs, even though the flasks and hydration reservoir are not included. On my two hikes so far, this backpack has performed exceptionally well. It's lightweight yet capacious enough to carry all my necessities without feeling bulky. The dual SR-buckled side compression straps, pole/axe attachments, and the stretch-mesh front shove-it pocket that can hold a helmet, all add to its versatility. An expertly crafted backpack that combines comfort, durability, and practicality, the Osprey Tempest Velocity 20L is an investment that any hiking enthusiast would find invaluable for their adventures.

Best Quality and Comfort Yet
I am so in love with my new Osprey Tempest Velocity! This bag has more pockets than you can imagine to carry all of your essentials for camping and hiking. It’s designed well and makes it easy for you to reach the important stuff while hiking. I like that there are pockets on the straps for things like chapstick or your keys and money. It’s water proof and your clothes will stay dry in there. Then since they reinforced the stitches on this bag the likelihood that it’s going to have any issues is very slim. It’s meant for outdoors and it shows in the design and fit. This bag alleviates any low back pain you normally get with a regular bag. They also used extra padding in the straps for even more comfort! You are definitely getting the best value in a bag for your money. I highly recommend this product!
