100% squirrel proof. They have fgiven up trying
We were plagued with squirrels, and had tried the baffle to stop them jumping up. Everything covered in oil for them to slide down. Using chilli to put them off. Whatever we could.BUT THIS WORKED and the squirrels have given up. So we now have the Walter Harrisons peanut one, the Walter Harrisons suet one, and the Walter Harrisons bird seed one. VERY EASY to fill. The squirrels don't even try any more.HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Worth every penny if squirrels are your problem.

More robust than many similar models.
A good bird feeder to hold shelled peanuts. Based on my experience with my last bird feeder of a similar pattern, I am tempted to put a plastic bowl upside down over the top to keep most of the rain off, to stop the peanuts becoming moldy when the birds are not eating the nuts quickly enough for the problem not to occur.

the best peanut feeder
Easy to refill and keep clean and very squirrel proof. Little birds love it and are protected from hawks by the cage.

Easier to clean and re-fill than any of the others
So easy to fill and to clean. Some of the other feeders are a real pain to clean and accumulate debris in lots of difficult to reach places. This is so easy to dismantle that it's a very quick and easy job.

Deters both squirrels and apparently birds unfortunately.
I had great hopes for this feeder with its guardian. And the price seemed very reasonable at £30 for both the feeder and the cage. We’ve had problems with squirrels for a while now getting into other feeders we’ve had but decided to try this one because it had good reviews and looked as though it would do the job. It’s fantastic at keeping squirrels out, not a single one has got in, although we have seen them trying. The gaps in the cage are just too small.Unfortunately the birds haven’t been keen on using it either. I have no definitive explanation as to why this is the case. The first lot of sunflower hearts sat there for two weeks, the tube remained full. I changed the seed to some from a new pack but still no joy after another two weeks. The birds come and sit on the hook above the feeder, flap around outside the cage as though they’re going to go in but just don’t then fly off.My theory, and a theory is all it is, is that this guardian is just too narrow, the birds don’t seem to like entering it. Maybe it’s because whilst sitting on the perches on the inner seed holder, their feathers are touching the guardian. It’s the only thing I can think of. ( unless we have unusually large birds round here). Maybe other buyers will have better luck, I hope so.Anyway, in the end I gave up, we spent another £55 buying a different feeder with a wider guardian, the birds were in there within two days of putting it out ( in exactly the same place with the same feed) and the sunflower hearts are going down rapidly. The squirrels did manage to dislodge the lid on this new feeder but we easily fixed that and since then the squirrels haven’t been able to get near the seed and boy have they tried.

Great bird feeder best I’ve found.
We live in an area where there are a lot of grey squirrels. This make is the first type I’ve found that is genuinely squirrel proof. The container is just too far from the guard mesh to make it impossible for the wee varmints to break in. Recommend use of a reusable cable tie to prevent it being knocked off and emptied that way.

Tiny Birds only..
The feeder is good but I did have to bend the hanging wire as it came apart too easy and my nuts fell on the floor. It's only for very small birds it's only tits I've see use it so far, the gaps too small for sparrows.Hopefully it will attract more small birds soon. You can put suet balls in the bottom it's a bit tricky but it works as a 2 in 1..

Can recommend, it does the job. Brilliant purchase !
This is my second purchase from Walter Harrison, this bird feeder is strong with its protective cover keeping unwanted visitors away. It is perhaps more expensive than some feeders but you do get what you pay for.
