These are serious pads - you won't want them for anything but downhill riding
POC gear is great however I cannot imagine wearing these for anything other than serious drops. I would not wear them on climbs or any sort of cross country. They are heavy and movement restricting. In a fall, they would be excellent. Shin coverage is good - not for pedal strikes, but for rocks on a fall. Maybe keep them in your backpack until a hairy descent. Otherwise, save them for the chairlift days.I also own the 1.0 pads, which are great for trail rides. I actually keep them in my pack until I reach the top of the ride. That model is much better suited for the sort of riding I do.

Runs small
Max protection? This is what you want. They run small compared to the other VPD pads. I have the regular knee pads also in the same size, but these didn’t fit. Nice pads though.

Might fit you...?
This is a quality product but wasn't quite as good a fit for me as the ION K-Pact Select. For reference: tested in the Colorado Mountains on trails and in bike parks - albeit a little restrictive from inclining years. 5'10" 170lbs. Regarding the POC: the Large was too big and the Medium was too small. No shame in fit but, the reason for three stars is - the ION K-Pact feels more solid, more comfortable, not as restrictive, weighs less, and is far easier to get on (assuming the staff at the LBS has the straps connected correctly - easily fixed if not). Granted, the POC is 25% cheaper (or the ION is 33% more expensive, depending on which direction you want to do the math...) and feels like it would be more than sufficient. However, if you have the extra $40, go for the ION K-Pact

Expensive but worth it
Took a couple of rides to break in but after that they stay in place really well and aren’t too uncomfortable during climbs. No rashes or burns even after 10+ miles in 90 degree heat. Cover most of my shins.

Heavy Duty Protection
When I ordered these I didn't anticipate they would be as heavy and heavy duty as they are! Comfort and fit were spot on as usual for POC (5'8" @ 162lbs) and they extended far enough down the shin to protect from getting hit with a pedal. The padding is effective against impact and molds to your leg quite well. The guards have stayed in position regardless on my antics on the trail and jumping. I would highly recommend these to anyone wanting some heavier duty protection that covers the shins.

Quality is top notch but comfort is not
Solid product with quality material and build. However, the material above the knee is too bulky and uncomfortable behind the knee.

Perfect
There's no question about POC's product quality but judging from various reviews I was concerned about the proper size to order.I'm 6'2" and chose the LARGE size. Ridden on two trips, total 25 miles of X-country and can happily report these knee pads are PERFECT. No slippage, and until you remove them probably will forget you even are wearing them. My leg size where the upper strap attaches is 19", and where the strap attaches around my calf is 14.75". They fit snug but not tight. Just the way you want them! I hope this helps others with any sizing concerns.

Good protection. Light weight
Good protection. Light weight. It lost a star because of wearinh design Apparently ones leg goes in the sleeve and pants go over it? This seems impossible. Fitting a leg in the hole is very uncomfortable. Additionally none of my pants can get over top them anyways. I realize good protection comes with size But the product is simply hard to wear as designed.Would buy again.

Worth the money.
Really happy with these pads. I know they come with a hefty price tag but they’re definitely worth it. I came off my bike recently and didn’t feel a thing!

Parfait enfin presque
