Allows Pictures of the Sun
This does exactly what it is supposed to do. I bought it for an eclipse and thought darker would be better ~ and it was less expensive than the recommended tint, so it had to be better right? The price was right. Not quite, darker is darker. It worked on my camera with no issues. My eclipse pictures took on a purple / white hue. Comparing them to other photographers result had mine much darker than theirs. I took some pictures with my cell phone camera using the protective lens of eclipse glasses and got some decent results. Overall, I was happy with both. I have no complaints about the filter quality. It was easy to add to my 150-600mm lens. The darkness did make it a challenge to orient the camera on the tripod and focus; the sun moves a lot faster than most think about. I've included four photos: 1 - My camera on tripod | 2 & 3 - Pictures with the lens | 4 - Picture with cell phone and free carboard eclipse glasses

Excellent! Great pics of the eclipse
I used this last year to get awesome pictures of the eclipse. The filter quality was fantastic and by nature it protected my lens. I would recommend this to anyone looking to take solar pictures. It cut the sun's glare to a level safe for the camera. 10/10, would buy again!

Great Product... Read this before you buy
If you are considering this filter for solar photography, you are looking in the right place. As a semi-professional photographer with five years of experience, this ND filter is essential for safely capturing solar events such as an eclipse. I used it during the 2024 solar eclipse in Ohio, and it worked exactly as needed. The filter was easy to install, required no extra preparation, and allowed me to capture sharp, detailed images. Before purchasing, it is worth asking how often you will realistically use this type of filter. An ND1000000 (20-stop) filter designed for super-telephoto lenses (95mm) is a very specialized/niche product.. Unless you regularly photograph solar events or work with extremely high-intensity light sources, this is not something most photographers will need. While I achieved great results with it, I regret spending over $70 because it has sat unused in my closet ever since the solar eclipse. For one-time astronomical events, there are less expensive alternatives available that can deliver similar results. You should save money for a better lens or camera for the future. If you are a dedicated solar photographer, this filter is excellent. If not, you may want to consider a more budget-friendly option or just DIY one based on some reliable information from Google. :)

Solar filter doesn't turn the image orange
I needed a solar filter once we decided we'd try to view the April, 2024 solar eclipse...weather permitting...since I have replaced both the camera and the lens that I used for the previous eclipse (2017). Weather permitted, and the filter worked well. Can't really say the same for the camera + lens (focus issues that I occasionally have, even without a filter), but the solar filter worked well. I appreciated the lack of colorization of the sun (it looks light gray in the properly-exposed images, while my previous filter made the sun look orange or yellow orange). Sunspots were visible, too, so I may use the filter occasionally for sunspot photos in the future. The filter can also be useful with or without a camera to view very bright lights. The filter came with a nice hard-plastic protective case that is easy to use. It also included a couple of cleaning cloths that I haven't used, so can't really describe here.

Good value
Good value. Got it for the total eclipse last year. I tested it and know it would have worked great if clouds hadn't blown the deal.

Know what you are doing
I got this solely to be able to take pictures of the sun, and the extremely rare instances my 10 stop doesnt apply. It is dark enough for both. Some reviewers are claiming it is too dark and that they are having to crank ISO up. Look at their settings and you can see that they have no idea what they are doing or talking about. F11-ISO 2500, 1/360 sec? Turn your ISO down, slow shutter down, use a tripod and image stability and you will get a "normal" picture. There is no reason to turn your ISO up, that is just dumb. ISO is compensatory for lack of light to increase shutter speed to a hand holdable level, or to compensate in scenes where movement, timing and lack of available light are an issue. It is not for compensating for lack of light while using a filter to block out what you then try to compensate for. The filter does exactly what it is supposed to do, block light. You want to compensate for blocked or lack of light, slow shutter speed down...THEN you wont have a grainy picture. The only quirk i have about the filter itself is that there are no "markings" on the side indicating what f-stop rating the filter is, just Nano-x marking. Other than that, it is exactly what it is supposed to be, a solar filter...
